Badgerboy 0 Posted June 16, 2004 spybot and its free.......http://www.safer-networking.org/ Spybot is rather good. Adaware is easier to use, but doesn't always pick up everything.

edc 0 Posted June 17, 2004 Spybot probably picks up more, but Ad-aware is a lot faster.
turms 0 Posted June 17, 2004 I use them both, just to be sure :P

Noon416 (OFPEC) 0 Posted June 17, 2004 Adaware is more user friendly, Spybot is more thorough. They both miss some that the other picks up, so if you can, use both. Between them, you get the best coverage against spyware/adware/malware/etc.
Guest Posted June 17, 2004 I use them both, just to be sure :P Same here. I had a rather nasty one sneak through the other week....took both to find all the components.
benu 1 Posted June 17, 2004 Regarding pop-up blockers, i think every browser except the internet explorer has an option to block popups. I did not have popups for years now...
Placebo 29 Posted June 17, 2004 I'd say PestPatrol, I'm really impressed with it, however it's not free and the shareware version doesn't remove spyware just detects them. For free Spybot by a country mile, followed by Adaware.
BraTTy 0 Posted June 17, 2004 I use Spybot and Adaware and I can tell you the either and the combination of both still does NOT get rid of all the spyware, there has to be better somewheres Most surely one that is not free

We used that at work once. But it is not free.
BraTTy 0 Posted September 21, 2004 I would like to add to this topic again. As I am recovering a massive spyware infestation that I could not get rid of.And this was shortly after a fresh format of both my drives. I tried any available spyware killers and they kept ignoring the problems.Until I found this program: http://www.giantcompany.com It helped me get things under control and has some nice features, works well.
