Ninja_STO 0 Posted June 15, 2004 I just noticed this about a week or so ago, but the hands of my watch in game have totally disappeared. It is both in map view or just by using the watch button. I thought maybe an addon was conflicting, so I removed all 3rd-party addons and still checked with no luck. I'm not about to uninstall and reinstall the whole game just to fix this, it's not that big of a deal. But if someone else does know how to fix this, I'd appreciate the help. Placebo 31 Posted June 15, 2004 What are your system specs? Searching only finds this old thread that says the problem is due to running in 16bit.
NeMeSiS 11 Posted June 15, 2004 mine works fine in 16bit colors
Ninja_STO 0 Posted June 16, 2004 Ok, my system specs. And don't laugh  E-Machine T1096 Celeron 900MHz 256 MB RAM Onboard Intel 3D Direct AGP Video Card (Intel 82810 Graphics Controller) Running OFP 1.96 at 1024X768 Resolution, 16-bit Odd thing is the watch was working about a month ago, and just stopped working one day. Had nothing to do with any addon installation, or other new software or hardware. It just stopped. I checked that forum post you mentioned, and they gave only one idea...BUY NEW VIDEO CARD. Well, that is unfortunately NOT an option right now. I don't need the watch that bad, but it would be nice to have back. My MB only has 2 PCI slots, and one has my netcard installed. So my only option is a PCI video card, and because the power supply is only 150W, it can't handle any good ones. So, does anyone know what might be the problem without buying new video card? Mister Frag 0 Posted June 16, 2004 The Intel 82810 graphics controller family uses a shared memory architecture, i.e. the memory required to display graphics and hold textures comes at the expense of main memory. I would therefore recommend that you try shutting down any unneeded application that may be running in the background, reorganizing your addons and missions folders, increase your virtual memory setting, try lowering in-game textures through the Preferences program, and try lowering the in-game resolution, in that order. Update: According to this page on Intel's website, there are no issues with the 82810 and OFP at the default settings. However, if none of the other suggestions above work, try getting the latest version of the driver from here.
Ninja_STO 0 Posted June 16, 2004 @Mister Frag Unfortunately, I have tried all of your suggestions. I started out with seperating my addons into several folders, and creating several shortcuts on the desktop to run only groups of addons at a time, such as Vietnam, WGL, CoC UA, betas, etc. When that didn't work, I tried each other step listed as well as a few others. I'm not running anything except OFP due to my already slow processor. And like I said, the watch was working fine just a week or so ago, and it's "malfunction" does not seem linked to any addon since I removed and reinstalled all of them. Well, I appreciate everyone's help on this topic. I will just have to go without the watch for now, not a big deal. But hopefully I can find a solution some time in case others still have a similar problem. Thanks all for the advice.
Ninja_STO 0 Posted June 17, 2004 Here is a pic to show what I am talking about. If anyone else has this issue in the future and determines how to resolve it or what causes it, please post here. If this post gets too old before someone finds out, you can still message me using the icons at the bottom of the post. Thanks. void_false 1 Posted June 17, 2004 hm... i could never run OFP on onboard video cards. how did u make it?
Ninja_STO 0 Posted June 17, 2004 Below are links of my OFP settings. You can read the post above to see my actual system specs, although I have been running OFP since it first came out using onboard video. Yeah, what can I say...I'm a cheap bastard when it comes to upgrading  Pic 1 Pic 2 Pic 3 Pic 4 Pic 5 Pic 6 Pic 7 Not sure why it's always worked for me. My prior system was a nasty little terd, only a 500MHz with 8MB onboard video, so I was even surprised I could use OFP since it said the minimum was 16MB Vid RAM.
theavonlady 2 Posted June 17, 2004 Here's an old thread. I remember it because of Placebo's uncalled for rude outbursts. Looks like you'll need a decent graphics card or forget it.
Ninja_STO 0 Posted June 17, 2004 Yeah, that's what Placebo had posted before. I'm just curious why it was working before with my current setup, and just stopped working for no apparent reason. But alas, it's not that important really.
theavonlady 2 Posted June 17, 2004 Yeah, that's what Placebo had posted before. Argh! Now he'll accuse me of.......................... not again!
void_false 1 Posted June 17, 2004 music set to OFF??!!!
Ninja_STO 0 Posted June 17, 2004 Yes, I don't listen to the music. I'm a prior grunt, and I never had a CD Walkman with me in the field. I still hear music that's included as part of an intro, but I don't like it while playing. Maybe it's just me, but I prefer to hear that tank moving in or that soldier walking up behind me than to hear "AC/DC: Big Guns" blaring on my headphones.
