llauma 0 Posted May 27, 2004 I decided to release a new sky pack. It's not perfect and it's not meant to replace the original sky. I just thought that my old sky looked really bad but people still used them in pictures and videos. I think this looks so much better so why not share it. Sure you can use it to replace the sky but you need to live with a few flaws in certain weathers shifts. The good thing with it is that you can zoom in and it still looks nice. The rainy sky isn't good though so stay inside when it's raining. The cloudy sky is a clear gradient which means that it only has the moving clouds. The reason why I did that was to get rid of the flaws in other high res skies and because it looked nice. The sky will never look the same twice except for the moving cloud textures. So the sky is mostly about the moving clouds which kegetys made so the credits goes to him. The textures have different resolutions which causes a few bugs. The clear sky is only 16x16 pxl, while the rainy sky I just added is 512x512. I don't plan to improve this so don't ask me to. You are free to do what ever you want with the sky just as long as you give credits to Kegetys for what he has made. The Sky requires OFP resistance and it only works with T&L. ***DOWNLOAD*** Mirror 1 Mirror 2 @CiA How to install: Extract the archive to your Operation Flashpoint directory. Then go to the created llauma_sky directory and run the install.bat file. If the install goes well you should be able to use the llauma directory like a regular mod folder. (ie. add -mod=llauma_sky into your OFP:R shortcut link). Check the Readme.txt before installing
Toasty McGrath 0 Posted May 27, 2004 Pretty nice. They're not overexaggerated textures like Keg's. But it's still a coin toss over which I'm gonna use... they're all so good.... *Head explodes*
Taconic 0 Posted May 27, 2004 Quote[/b] ]It's not perfect and it's not meant to replace the original sky. Quote[/b] ]Sure you can use it to replace the sky but you need to live with a few flaws in certain weathers shifts. It's not meant to replace the original sky even though it looks 100% better? As for those "few flaws," I don't think anybody will even notice them (I didn't see anything wrong with the overcast clouds.) You've really outdone yourself. I've used your sky since you released it. This fixed the few gripes that I had with your original (namely the sky being a little too blue, the thick horizon line, and the way the sky looked a little too blue at dawn or dusk) and improved it overall. I couldn't believe that I was looking at a sunny OFP sky when I loaded this up and saw it for the first time. It looks great. The sunsets also actually look interesting without cloud cover now. My advice is to edit your post to say "it's nearly perfect and should be used to replace the original sky."
Sgt_Eversmann 1 Posted May 27, 2004 Llauma you are the man! Thanks for the new Skyes. Good work
Pappy Boyington 0 Posted May 27, 2004 Pretty nice. They're not overexaggerated textures like Keg's. But it's still a coin toss over which I'm gonna use... they're all so good.... *Head explodes* id just like to say in kegetys defense here. that ive heaverd this complaint alot. shortly after i installed these skys. i was outside workin on something. . and thinkin about OFP and how the skys look better. .i glanced up to the sky. . and the sky over Pittsburgh PA USA looks exactly like kegs sky did. so as far as im concerned kegetys sky is as realistic as can be. llaumas is nice too. it adds varaity to which sky mod to use. i dont want to start a fight just want to defend keg's sky
bonko the sane 2 Posted May 27, 2004 coolio, txs llauma, the thick horizon line was my only complaint in your previous sky pak, now that is gone *goes off to dissect data.pbo and data3d.pbo to add moon and stars*

llauma 0 Posted May 27, 2004 Hey Llauma! if i put new sky textures into folder "newdata" of you previous version and run install.bat, would it work? Yes, if nothing is wrong with the textures. You can put any changed textures that you can find in the data.pbo and easily replace them by running the install.bat You will get problems if you try to install the stars with the install.bat so dont do that. The moon and water textures are no problem. And Pappy I agree, the Kegetys sky was great and the clouds he made were perfect. It's very dramatic and great for some moments while it might be to much for others. One other point is that you can't deny that high res skies will slow down the performance, especially when you run other minor addons to improve the game. I hope this is a lighter option for those who can't run the high res skies.

Silent N Deadly 0 Posted May 27, 2004 Is there a way to combine Kegetys rainy skies with Llauma's sunny/partly sunny skies? That would rock, I was just wondering.
Toasty McGrath 0 Posted May 27, 2004 And don't forget to include the KEG's rainy weather effect. the one that makes the world a little dark blue when it rains.
Kuba 0 Posted May 27, 2004 Is there a way to combine Kegetys rainy skies with Llauma's sunny/partly sunny skies? That would rock, I was just wondering. Â Yes it is. Just copy Ketygets rain from Ketygets to Newdata, to Lauma newdata, and it shoud work properly.

Just copy Ketygets rain from Ketygets to Newdata, to Lauma newdata, and it shoud work properly. It should but it doesn't. The fog turns pitch black when it goes from overcast to rain. It's because of the different resolutions on the textures.
Silent N Deadly 0 Posted May 27, 2004 Hmmm, too bad.
Toasty McGrath 0 Posted May 27, 2004 Is that to say that combining the two is impossible? or does it just require someone with real addon experience to trick it out to work and publish a whole new pack?
llauma 0 Posted May 27, 2004 Is that to say that combining the two is impossible? Â or does it just require someone with real addon experience to trick it out to work and publish a whole new pack? It's not possble to combine them without getting the flaws. The only way to make it possible is by making new high res textures. But then you have the problem with making the sky smooth which isn't possible when using 1024x1024 pxl textures. Anyone willing to find a tweak is welcome to do that. Parvus 0 Posted May 28, 2004 i dont want to start a fight just want to defend keg's sky ... have you ever *zoomed in* with camera.sqs at kegs? The  flaws are while looking vertical up in the sky or? gj Mr. Llauma!
