sputnik monroe 102 Posted September 12, 2005 Please don't lock this, the game is still brand new and I didn't want to start a whole new post. Hello every one. My father has purchased Silent Hunter III and is having a graphics problem with the game. He brings it up on the phone each week I talk to him and I just don't have the solution as I don't own the game, (I would love to but I don't have a DVD drive or the money at the moment). Any way I finally got him to email me some screenshots of the problem which I'll add to this post. Basically he says the game runs fine and looks great except that there are green flickering shapes on the crew members and I think he said some times the green flickering shapes appear on the ocean where the sun is reflecting also. He says he has gotten the latest Nvidia drivers for his Geforce (Geforce6600GT I believe) and he has updated Direct X and patched the game to 1.4B. Well as I don't have access to the game I'm at a loss as to how to help him. He doesn't like to use the internet and doesn't know how to go about this so I told him if he would send me some screen shots I'd see If I could find a solution. So here are the shots, I can't see what's wrong with the first picture but perhaps people who plays the game will notice something amiss. The last three shots clearly show some sort of graphical glitch. Thanks to any one who can offer assistance, I know this is a bit different from the average "help me out please" type post. PS... Could any one tell me if there is a CD rom version of the game? I played and greatly enjoyed the original Silent Hunter on my 486 back in the day. Daddl 10 Posted September 12, 2005 Only DVD - but I think there's a download version, too (which should work without any kind of cd/dvd drive). scars09 9 Posted September 12, 2005 yeah he should try the usual stuff, update game to newest version via patches from the internet, update gfx drivers to newest version. To be honest the only time i saw something that looks like that was with a much to high overclocked card. So if its a tweaked one or anyone else tweaked it i would check that. BF 2 is eating brains I still play it and started a new campaign lately with some mods and high realistic settings. Now that´s fun. However EA prefers to work on an addon which, in contrast to a patch, can of course be sold for money! I Havent played BF2 for quite some time now I must admit, and I am not missing it either! Silent Hunter on the other hand requires a certain amount of concentration and planning, and for that I am often too tired after work, that is why I also buy simple&stupid ego-shooters. But I will start playing SH3, its still installed anyway! Next time you people think about buying a game just open a thread. The feedback from this SH3 thread was just great and very helpful!
