Gollum1 0 Posted April 11, 2004 That's a freaky-looking weapon, what's the history behind it and is it actually used by any armed forces? I'm guessing the weapon is from Slovenia/the Balkans?
Guest Posted April 11, 2004 Weapon was made by the look of American 180, in the Gorenje factory (Slovenia) It was used in Slovenian war for independence, and balkan crisis, but its not in use anymore because its not human!!! When u get shoot with it its not nice to see, but u know how war goes, u use whatever u have to stop agressor
4-Eyes 0 Posted April 11, 2004 the MGV 176 sub-machinegun was first introduced in 1989 by Gorenje factory from Velenje. This modern weapon drew attention because of the way it was made, the used ammunition and the drum (most modern weapons don't use the drum fead of ammunition). It was made mostly from durable plastic masses, only the most stressed areas were made from steal. The ammunition used was considered to be too weak for military use, but it made fireing in bursts very easy and accurate. the drum holds 176 bullets in the older version, or 161 bullets in the newer version of the drum. Standard equipement for the MGV 176 is a silencer, and it can also be fitted with a sniper scope, NV scope, or laser projector. This goes to show, that the MGV 176 was primarily intended for special forces of the police, army, security services, etc. It is not produced anymore. Specs bullet: .22 LR (5,6 x 16 R) mass: 2.88 kg length: folded stock - 480mm, unfolded 745mm barrel length: 260mm rate of fire: 1200-1600 r.p.m. drum capacity: 176/161 bullets

That seems strange, anyone care to explain?
Andraz 2 Posted April 11, 2004 They stopped producing it because this crap was one of the most unreliable submachineguns ever built. Better to stick to ovens, refrigerators and washing machines. After all, not everybody is Mr. Gaston Glock. (the company which made MGV-176 (Gorenje) makes home appliances)

Better to stick to ovens, refrigerators and washing machines. After all, not everybody is Mr. Gaston Glock.  (the company which made MGV-176 (Gorenje) makes home appliances)  It was ureliable ,but in that time SLovenian forces didnt have ammo 0.22LR ,they puted inn whatever was simlar to that ammo, u cant fire the weapon logtime if there is no right ammo for it!!I fired with this weapon when i was in army and i must say its wery good and u can caunt on it if u put the right ammo in it. Slovenia had an embargo for all weapons in that time , allso for amunition! Its not human, because of firepover of this weapon and this calibre easely goes thrue the bodywest. Imagine u recive small burst in ur chest only for 1 sec, u will have body with no skin and bulets will go around ur body....because it will not brake ur bones but it will go around........ void_false 1 Posted April 11, 2004 wery nice addon! now i can kill 5t truck full of troops and it wont succed to stop and unload them This i call Machinegun!
Andraz 2 Posted April 11, 2004 they puted inn whatever was simlar to that ammo, u cant fire the weapon logtime if there is no right ammo for it!! If a weapon is chambered for .22 LR caliber you can't put in it nothing else than .22 LR cartridge! They should teach you that in the army.  If weapon is a revolver chambered for .22 Magnum caliber, you can put in .22 Magnum as well as .22 LR cartridges, but not vice-versa. But we're not talking about revolver here. It was ureliable ,but in that time SLovenian forces didnt have ammo 0.22LR Way to go Gorenje, you made a submachinegun that is no use to our brave soldiers, because they don't have any .22 LR ammo. Damn! Joking aside… Gorenje made that gun in .22 LR caliber because Slovenian-made .22 LR ammunition was available and was very cheap, but when they tested it, they found out that the damn thing couldn't fire one shot without jamming. As a matter of fact, it only functioned proprely with foreign high-velocity rimfire ammunition - Hirtenberger .22 LR ammo, Remington HV .22 LR ammo... Its not human, because of firepover of this weapon and this calibre easely goes thrue the bodywest That's BS. Even a burst of .22 LR bullets can't penetrate Level II body armor, not to mention Level III-A, III and IV. Added some additional information.
@cero 0 Posted April 11, 2004 I'm downloading this, lets see what is like. Judging by the pic, looks good, nice smoke effect. @CERO Edited a cuple of words, typing too fast
Gollum1 0 Posted April 12, 2004 Heh Andraz, I thought as much. This is a nice addon as it is, but it should be part of a larger, Balkan/Slovenian pack, I mean I'll bet no-one will ever use this in a mission as it is, just go for a joyride in the editor. Just my thoughts...
Major Fubar 0 Posted April 12, 2004 I'm not going to argue with Andraz, but, I remember seeing a story on a similar weapon years ago (the AM-180 from memory), which was able to chew through body armor due to it's sheer rate of fire, even though it was only .22LR ammo. Something to do with bullets hitting one behind another, I think...
CanadianTerror 0 Posted April 12, 2004 I "think" I've seen a video of this thing in action and I wouldnt want to be the one standing in front of it if it's the one I saw. It had a real high ROF and just looked nasty. That's one ugly looking gun though.
4-Eyes 0 Posted April 12, 2004 Ugly? I think it looks cool enough.
