Not able to throw grenade

i searched, sorry..but i don't know what the problem is.

I play as captive with no weapons. I removed the M16 from a soldier and at the very beginning of the mission, and he get's shot. What I want to do is go to the dead soldier and take the grenades from him. I get no action menu ...?

What I also tried is addweaponcargo "handgrenade" to some barrels. Seems to be "OK" to do that and I can take them, but I can't throw them (can't reload either).

what I really need is to take "1" grenade from a dead soldier, how can that be done?

Do you have the problem with the normal Captive unit and the unit with "removeallweapons this"?

Weird problem, maybe caused by 1.96

No, I'm using 1.91 for the moment.

yeah it's weird..i believe if I use another "captive" to get shot, them I pick up a grenade from him, i don't need to use "removeallweapons" do I? I already tried adding a grenade to a captive and don't see it.

The mission is being a prisoner within some fencing and finding a grenade...would be cool to add it to the barrels and being able to use it. ..like an easter egg hunt lol.

By reading your post, i remember having had a similar problem.

I've been using the HYK US army soldiers. As they are already

using JAM magazines, i thought to only remove their rifles and

add them BAS JAM rifles, using their original mags.

Shooting went fine, but i wasn't able to grab any magazines

from dead soldiers.

I didn't investigate that prob any deeper, until i've read about

your problem.

Try removing all weapons + readding everything and see if it

works then wink_o.gif

When I added the 'INQ_HandGrenade" to a "HYK_USols" stock, I couldn't use it.

It required "INQ_throw".

Investigate what kind of ammo your using. It may require additional stuff.

darn, I just tried that, doesn't work  sad_o.gif

My reason for using a older update and no addons is I'm playing with a good friend online, and trying to get him into it. He has no patience and don't want to bother him with addons; he just wants to play, so i need to make this work.

I have no hope to win this mission without a weapon' I just need "1" grenade and there's a chance.

...I'm not using ammo and don't start with any.

btw - try: addmagazinecargo "handgrenade", as it's the

ahhhh, not working.

I tried magazine, weapon, and using ["handgrenade",1]

nothing's working.  sad_o.gif

I'm using the Ia Drang Vietnam Island "full" pack. Where there problems with that??

that is the only addon I'm using.

wow_o.gif huh - just noticed a mixture here:

vehiclename addMagazineCargo ["handgrenade",1]

would be used to add it to objects/vehicles

while:

unit addMagazine "handgrenade"

would be used to add it to a unit.

As i was just copy/pasting your syntax to show you that

hangrenades belong to magazines and not to weapons, i

didn't take notice about the cargo_thingy.

lets see...

OFP needs a weapon+a magazine.. always, even with strokefist..

so if u first remove all weapons and then give it a handgrenade as mag then u cant trow it...

maybe this addweapon "trow" or this addweapon "handgrenade" rock.gif

Now I can't removeallweapons from a normal soldier. Is it:

nameofsoldier "removeallweapons"

which one is it??

It's: removeAllWeapons this

or: removeAllWeapons soldier

btw - i've tried some things now:

1) remove all weapons from a guy and give him only 1 hangrenade (using the correct method biggrin_o.gif )

Then i killed him, and couldn't take the grenade from his

dead body

When displaying the weapons and magazines by a radio call,

it still showed me that he has a hangrenade

2) placed a red barrel +

this addMagazineCargo ["handgrenade",1]

No problem for me to go there and take the handgrenade +

throwing it onto the soldier i made in step 1) tounge_o.gif

thanks for all the help guys! biggrin_o.gif I got it (finally)

I used ofpforum's idea where you need a weapon in order to use a weapon, including throwing a handgrenade.

note: also, if removeallweapons does not work for you, try eliminating each weapon and mag at a time.

If you want to create a defenseless soldier, but capable of using handgrenades, give him binoculars. Binocs are considered a weapon. Just add ... this addweapon "binocular" ..and you can pick up from either cargo or a dead soldier.

only problem is once throwing the grenade, your looking through the binoculars, but it's working now. smile_o.gif

Instead of using binoculars just type:

this addweapon "throw"

Then you can pick up and use handgrenades. Ammo in ofp cannot be used without a weapon to fire it, even hand grenades.

hmm - i fear that's not all true, being said here:

If i removeAllWeapons myguy, and addMagazine "handgrenade",

i can use it.

If i do not change anything related to weapons on an ai unit,

and if i removed all weapons for me, i can use the grenades

from the dead ai.

If i removeallweapons from the ai, and only add him a handgrenade,

i can't use his grenades

If i only addMagazineCargo a handgrenade to a barrel,

i can use it

and btw:

then you've done something wrong - no need to remove 'em
