Problems with alpha channel.

Hi

I was working on some plants from Far Cry.

I have a problem with that Alpha Channel .

Cant describe that my English is to bad smile_o.gif

But u can see on that Pic what my Problem is.

Maybe anyone know what i have to do.

ithink that main problem is in teksture, the edges must be sharp, yours are not u need to clean the texture in Photosoop, .... biggrin_o.gif

Just create your alpha channel using colour range selection in Photoshop and no transparent border ;)

This wont be a problem with the image itself, at least not the tga file. Check out the "4 alpha channels" thread in this section, it seems to be the exact same problem.

dudes, you need to get the new "targa plug-in" thing for photoshop 7, to overwrite the corrupted ass one that comes with it...

then its very easy.

I think not that that is the problem, drow...

The problem is that you have different shades in your alpha channel. That means, there isn't only black and white, but also different shades of grey. Behind these half-tranparent parts of the texture other textures with alpha channel will hide.

If you look at BIS' orignal textures for plants, you will notice that they also only used plain black and white in their alpha channels. Try to reduce your alpha on these two colours, then your problem should be solved wink_o.gif

Try selecting all of the faces on one side and goto faces and either "move to top" or "move to bottom depending on what side it is on.Thats how I work with alphas.Works on other thins aswell.

i assumed he knew how to make alpha channels correctly but was still having trouble getting it to work... i had this problem before.

No diffrent shades.. Only Black & White.

But i think u solved the prob in that Alpha Channel Thread

"new" faces will hide behind "old" faces
