Deadus 0 Posted March 12, 2004 Ive searched but "windows" and "NT" arnt the best search parameters around. Basically i'm considering setting up some public OFP dedicated servers for a UK gaming company. The readmes all state you need win2k or winXP, but i just wondered if anyone has actually got OFP or the dedicated server to work on windows NT Thanks
toadlife 3 Posted March 12, 2004 I think it would work, as the standalone dedicated server shouldn't require accelerated 3d graphics to work, and accelerated 3D graphics are the one thing NT doesn't have. If I had an NT machine in my office, I would give it a try, but we moved everything to 2000 a looong time ago.

Deadus 0 Posted March 12, 2004 Oh i guess thats a no from the faq then
toadlife 3 Posted March 12, 2004 With NT you can't play the actuall game because of lack of graphics support, but I see no reason why NT wouldn't run the standalone dedicated server. Have you actually tried running a dedicated server on NT Avon?
theavonlady 2 Posted March 12, 2004 Have you actually tried running a dedicated server on NT Avon? Nope. BIS?
Placebo 29 Posted March 12, 2004 Just try it, what's the worst that could happen?
Deadus 0 Posted March 12, 2004 I have to upload my OFP install to the box first, from my home connection of 12kbps upstream. (So uploading 1gb at 12kbps and then finding it doesnt work is the worst hehe).
suma 8 Posted March 12, 2004 Nope. BIS? We never tried this. It may work, but it possible it will not start at all due to some dependencies on DirectX 8 components. I am not sure if there are any such dependencies in the dedicated server exe. The only way to know is to try .
Deadus 0 Posted March 12, 2004 Thanks Suma and All. I guess i can try it. I'll try uploading a minimal amount of an OFP directory and see if the dedicated server runs. I'll let you know the result, might be something for future reference
Deadus 0 Posted March 24, 2004 To anyone interested, the 1.96 DS works fine on NT
