jfri 0 Posted February 7, 2004 I don't understand the behaviour of my gunner in my tank. I drive up behind a tank and tells the gunner to target it. I click on it to order him to attack it. It doesn't help. Sometimes he says T72 targeting T72 and then commander: No Target. Why?
IceFire 0 Posted February 7, 2004 Maybe you are not being careful enough. Â You have to target the tank directly that you want him to fire on. Â That will make a square on the target. Â When he moves his gun turret onto the target and is ready to fire the square will also become a diamond. Â At that point it means that the gunner thinks his aim is on the object you had him target. Â Be sure to visually inspect the target to ensure that the diamond/square is actually on your target, then order him to fire. Â He will fire and the shell will land on the dot in the middle of the diamond. Make sure that there is a shell loaded when you ask him to fire or he will say "cannot fire". If you click to choose a target twice you may "unmake" the target so make sure you click only once on the target.
Stag 0 Posted February 7, 2004 Also, move your mouse cursor away from the target once you've selected it. That can confuse matters too.
-33ker 0 Posted February 8, 2004 Try the TAB button on your Keyboard to select a target and to switch between targets.

My gunner usually choose targets and fires automatically. It was only for the T72 I would like to assign that target and I got the message targeting T72. At any rate I finally destroyed that T 72 by getting into the gunners position. Another example of problems with orders. I order my men to mount a vehicle and one of them refuse with a negative answer for no apparent reason.
theavonlady 2 Posted February 8, 2004 What is FDF mod? Finnish Defence Forces mod. If you never heard of it, you didn't install it. What version of OFP are you playing?

noundo 0 Posted February 9, 2004 It sounds as if he doesn't fully comprehend the Tank commander system and targeting. Youre gunner will automatically choose targets and engage under certain circumstances. As commander you have to put your cursor over the tank you want your gunner to target, and then right click. You will say "target tank, 28" or some such. The target tank should now have a white box on it. When your gunner has aquired the target it will also have a white diamond on it. At this point you need to tell your gunner to fire by pressing the Ctrl key (easiest) or left clicking on the target (this can sometimes be difficult if your tank is moving). Vognsen 0 Posted February 10, 2004 The AI in ofp tanks are just dumb... drivers are crap, commanders have an issue wanna hear their voice over and over again.... For some reason you cannot tell your gunner to target things using the radiocommand, u have to use ya mouse.

noundo 0 Posted February 10, 2004 I use the 2. Target command all the time, and it works great. The problem with OFP is that the radio message queue is serial and it sometimes takes a few messages before your commands get sent to the gunner(or driver). This is especially true with a large team and a large OPFOR.

Rune 0 Posted February 24, 2004 I never click directly ON the target to make the gunner fire, I put the cursur in the sky, that gives the same effect and the sky is normally very easy to click - even if your tank is moving.
