Multiplayer

Recommended Posts

Whenver I go to Multiplayer after I start up the game (1.95) the game freezes up, I can't alt-tab out of it and after a while I hear an error message pop up in the background but cannot read it because the main menu is in the way.

The first time it froze was because I accidently switched Sockets to Directplay and as it was switchign to DirectPlay it froze. Anyway to solve this?

Post your system specs.

Using a firewall? Router? Hub? Switch? Cordless Kettle?

Seeing how I only know what one of those is, the firewall, I do not think I am using the other ones. I also do not have a firewall either. Im pretty sure it has something to do with me accidently hitting DirectPlay.

Edit: 256 MB RAM, 1.99 Ghz

and that is all I know about it (As you can tell I do not know a lot of PC performance kind of things)

Why can't you alt&tab?

If you're running XP try pressing CTRL+ALT+L this goes to a "computer locked" screen (in theory) cancel that and you should be back to your desktop to see the error message......

Nope that didnt work it just froze again and wouldnt let the alt+tab+L thing work. Just sat there and I had to restart like normal.

go to your userinfo file, default location C:/Program Files/Codemasters/Users/"your username", open the userinfo file in notepad, find the line "useSockets=0" change this to "useSockets=1"

Alternatley if thats too much hard work, delete your current user profile in the profile options and create a new profile, should work then.
