These two sets are nearly 5 years old now...

Here in the US we try to see how wide we can make our tractors

Trust me, there are streets and alleys between the buildings

I thought this was especially interesting how the new shoots are growing out

We started climbing on this site in thick fog, the other pictures didn't quite turn out

View of where Pope John Paul II stayed in the 2000 Jubilee from my dorm balcony. Couldn't take the picture at the time because there was a M14 sniper standing there the whole time.

Forgot I had this pic. If you want into the east coast of Sinai from Eilat, this border at Taba is it. That's part of the reason the recent bombing was so chaotic.

taba-001.jpg

Petra, overly abused set from Indiana Jones.

petra-001.jpg

More Petra. Lots of color to the rocks in the area

petra-002.jpg

Giza. Fortunately we were at the tail end of the sand storm, and I went at the hotel.

Right. Innocent bystander. Sure, what-ever. Actually security was really good, even if they stuck out like a sore thumb.

I thought about it, except that there was police tape over our windows and we were told to keep our blinds shut for the two weeks they were there. The uni campus got commendeered to be the local command post for the IDF detachment (green shirts, not blue) and we had hundreds of soldiers on-site. Each terrace had several snipers, and one of the large meetings was 'absolutly' off-limits to us students.

-------------

My class assignment was to count noses and keep tabs on these guys. I had a running mental game to see how fast I could spot them, as they'd leap-frog us to the different sites. If I hadn't spotted them before I got off the bus I was slipping up. Of course this guy was easy to spot being on a narrow street with no crowds, but he still tried.

Ran: Great pic of Prague! I feel so jelouse of all the history you have at your finger tips over there in europe... Wouldnt it be nice to set up an OFP exchange program. You come here: I go there. smile_o.gif

Killagee, I would really like to participate - if I manage to get you and Ran to Prague again, would you allow me to come to see all those lovely mountains and lakes myself? wink_o.gif

shinRaiden: Good pics, I love the one from Giza! smile_o.gif

Some photos from an airsoft session I attended (all photos made by my Olympus C-475 digital camera and cropped in PS):

Wow there's some amazing pics here! Its crazy all the different things we get to see in the places we live. I really like your series shinraiden.

Edge: Great pic. I wonder if there is an airsoft outfit in NZ... (off to google search...)

There are very heavy replica gun laws here in NZ.

Heres some more pics of mine. All from that week working in the South Island.

I am sure you will all love to see this Toy and Transport Museum. Its a private collection by some nutter... Great stuff:)

More to come from there btw...

Killagee, I really like your pictures - the last pack is AWESOME and very motivating for an amateur photographer smile_o.gif

(Any chance to see some of your pics in some wallpaper thread?)

Following pictures were made on Czech part of Ore Mts. (Czech-German border mountains), by one of the first SONY CyberShot camera borrowed from my tutor during the field works in 2003.

What camera do you have again Kilagee?

I would trek around and take some pictures of where I live, but I doubt that you guys would care about pictures of Southern California's impending overpopulation & hordes of new houses...

I had a few days off at the start of this week to I decided to go south for a couple of days of sea fishing in Cornwall around Polperro, a nice little harbour town:

Unfortunately the weather wasn't so great while I was there: the day the weather took a real turn for the worse I said bollocks to the fishing and decided to take a look around the Eden Project:

First three are from pictures my brother sent me from home while I was overseas.

This bad beast hauls. Way too much torque for it's own good.

What makes men...

The neighborhood

hme-003.jpg

I wish we could just kick back at camp, but no, we have to build massive projects. Some wise cracker decided to bury a old water tank to make a fire bowl, and we had to move it six inches with an undersized tractor-hoe to build an big ampitheatre.

hme-004.jpg

------------

Rest of this post and next are from Japan.

Couple contrast pictures. Notice the massive mecha piledriver on the left, and Joe ConstructionMan with an old whisk broom.

This is how a lot of the farming is done, wedged in between the suburbs. That's what subsidies do to you. Then again, even in the big plains, the paddies are still the same size.

Not sure why I had these paired. Iirc, this was the Atomic Bomb Memorial in Ueno Park in Tokyo.

The Gates of Hell. If anyone knows the art history on this one I'm all ears.

jsk-003.jpg

Trust me, there is a method to the madness...

jsk-001.jpg

I don't know why, but I'm always fascinated by machinary, even when I get yelled at for pushing buttons.

jtk-001.jpg

In the middle of the street is a buried sprinkler system that kicks in when the snow starts sticking and melts it off. Anyone else ever see something like this anywhere else?

jtk-003.jpg

There was a number of other reasons to believe that this old ladies club was sloshed.
