m21man 0 Posted January 10, 2004 I've seen a 64bit processor outperform my P4 3.2 GHz. Not by much, though .
bn880 5 Posted January 10, 2004 That's the thing, it's not going to be substantially better because 64bit means squat to OFP, its the other improvements that may simply beat the competition.
m21man 0 Posted January 10, 2004 Hmm, I've got a pretty strong PC: P4 3.2GHz 1GB RAM 128MB Radeon Pro But still that Athlon 64 beat me !
bn880 5 Posted January 10, 2004 Meaning what? You know, people are probably thinking the 64 bit processor wil lrun stuff about 1.5-2x times faster than a 32 bit one, so this is what I'm trying to explain.
Lucretius 0 Posted January 10, 2004 The Athlon 64 pretty much destroys the Pentium 4, even in 32 bit .. Your looking at about 17500 3d Marks for a pentium 4 3.2 800fsb, however an Athlon 64 gets around 19-20000 3d Marks stock It sometimes wins out by 40% in certain 3d benchmarks over the pentium 4.... the only area the pentium is faster is media encoding and rendering thanks to it's raw mhz advantage. gazmen 0 Posted January 11, 2004 Hi, I use this - A7N8X-X (Mode : Agressive, Aperture Size : 256Mo, AGP : 8X, Fastwrite : On) - Athlon 2400 XP FSB:266mhz - 512DDR - Geforce FX5600 256Mo (1280x960, 32bit, AA : 2X, Anisotropic : 2X) - Sounb Blaster Live! The game works very well I set it at 2500 distance view, 20 image second, high level of detail, and shadows on. Somethime the game lag, if they are more than 80 units fighting in the same area... I think the most important think is a good AGP card & a lot for RAM. I wan't to buy the Geforce FX 5900 but I prefer waiting a new model.
