bisfan 0 Posted November 13, 2003 First I just want to say: "Yes I know this theme is getting boring to everyone, but pleeease help me". Its about the demo p3Ds. Ive downloaded them, and the Xpack too, but it just wont work! When I unpack them with Xpack, I get p3D_. After that the manual says that the sufix , .p3D_ that is, should be changed in .p3d. HOW the hell can I do that? In the previous topic there was a word of some Hex editor. Whats that? Where can I find it? Pleeeease help me cause I really don`t know how could I open those demo p3ds. I always get standard message "Unable to load. Load error." And everyone are talking about it like its posssible (which I hope it is, for everyone except me ) Thanx for helping out in advance
hardrock 1 Posted November 13, 2003 Okey dokey, Windows for dummies: 1) Explorer: to open via the start bar or [WINDOWS]+[E] 2) Renaming a file:  You click onto the file you want to rename, you usually do that with your "Mouse", that's the little thing right beside your monitor  (except your left-handed, but I won't expand on that case)  then you press F2, or you click on the already marked file, there now should appear an input field where you delete the underscore after p3d  (if you don't know how to delete chars, consult your keyboard guide)
bisfan 0 Posted November 13, 2003 Ok, now i dont know whats your f***ing problem buddy, but you obviously dont know what the hell are you talking about. You cant change the "Type of file " that way. You can only rename it and that doesnt help. So keep your insulting advice for yourself. Ok??? If anybody wants to help me instead making remarks, You are welcome. I know this is probably simple to do, but I dont know how I can change demo file extension from .p3D_ to p3D. So please, some serious help.
bisfan 0 Posted November 13, 2003 I manage to convert from .p3d_ to .p3d with the help of Wordpad, but when I load it I get the same message "Unable to load. Load error." What the hell am I doing wrong??? Im really pissed right now, so if anybody has done it succesfully, PLEEEEEASE tell me how.
hardrock 1 Posted November 13, 2003 Sorry, I didn't want to insult you, maybe I misunderstood you a bit (sometimes there are posts in this forum where you really don't know if the writer even thought about what he is writing) but that's the only thing you have to do if you open the files with xpack, get the .p3d_ file and rename it to file.p3d, then open it, it should work at least it's working in my case, maybe try it again Edit: Another thing: have you activated "Show file extensions" on your computer? bisfan 0 Posted November 13, 2003 Well ok then. Never mind before. I did everything you sad. I got the original demo file cracked with Xpack and then converted extension from .p3D_ to .p3D. But when I load it in O2 I get the same damn message each time. Could it be because of my Windows Milenium? I read that Xpack was only tested under W2K. I really dont know what to do. Pleeeease ANYONE HELP!!!
bisfan 0 Posted November 13, 2003 Finnaly i found a solution. The problem was in Windows Millenium. Xpack seems to be working only with the w2k and xp. The file extension is also diferently modified in those then in the Millenium. So, if there is anyone else out there who has this type of problem, the solution is XP. BraTTy 0 Posted December 4, 2003 Hmm, I dl and used demo models (quite a few of them) Apparantly they were already uncompressed, I have tried xpack before and get the same results as you.(I have Win98se) But I haven't had to do any extracting on the demo models..... I would suggest Nzxshadows path, I have had success opening encrypted files using the older unpbo
