Paa formats

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I have a simple (for some) questions that I would like to get some answers on.

I came across this particular format labled as 'XXXX.paa'

I do know that my Photoshop recognises the format (since that program opened it by default)

however, it gives the message saying that it does not support it. (?)

Is it a plug-in that I need to purchase or download?

Or does it come with newer versions of the Photoshop?

Please help....

I've been trying teach myself how to make addons, maps etc and it is really a block that I need to break.

Thanks in advance...

However, is that site down or something?

I tried to download it and it keeps stalling (?)...

(File Download window pops up but no transfer)

Try rightlcicking and saving as.. usally works for me.

By the way, what I like to do, is to save time, put TexView in your OFP directory and then when you doubleclick a PAA file to get it open, the "pick a program to open this with", put in the path to texview and make sure always use this program checkbox is checked.

Is textview the only program that can open .Paa & .Pac files? I always wonder why BIS chose these file formats, same with .ogg files, why not use .mp3 or .wav?

Better compression.

BIS doesn't make a plugin because O2 does the converting for them.

OGG can be opened in WinAmp if you didn't know btw smile_o.gif

There really isnt any very good standard DXT file formats, maybe DDS, but that propably didn't exist back when OFP got to use DXT compressed textures. As for OGG, OGG is free and open source, while MP3 has quite high licensing costs. A raw wav file is out of the question, you would have one CD with just the music with that ;)

Thanks blackdog~ I tried that but no luck there either.

Now I am wondering if its just me or something is wrong with my isp.

EDIT:

Also I got this message (via pop up window)

"Internet Explorer cannot download TexView_11zip from www.flashpoint1985.com.

The server returned extended information"

Any thoughts  crazy_o.gif

Can anyone send it to my email address?

maybe your firewall doesn't like it. Firewalls will sometimes terminate a transfer if the file is larger than it appears, ie it thinks that a virus or worm is piggy backing the program. That should not be the case though. If you pm me, I can email it to you though.
