Badger 0 Posted September 26, 2003 Check out this terrific review about OFP:R and OFP Watch on Tactical Gamer by Apophis........... Even though OFP has been out for some time, it's great to see people who are still discovering how much fun it can be to play this game. stgn 39 Posted September 26, 2003 Well it is a nice review there are only two things it is only about the multiplayer part and he uses BAs weapons and soldiers they might be some of the best but they don't come whit the game. STGN
Eviscerator 0 Posted September 26, 2003 Great review, and yes, any chance of mentioning that those addons you talk about are from BAS ( http://www.ballistic-studios.com/ ), I can see many a confused user wondering where the KLR/M4 SOPMOD is when they start the game up if it's not pointed out that they are indeed addons. It sounds like he used OFP Watch from the outset and is probably not aware they are since they were installed automatically. He exaggerates the distances a bit too. Heatseeker 0 Posted September 26, 2003 I think the review is... good, and only covers the good things about OPF, if it was me i would have to mention the games flaws and how it can be frustrating at times too. But it still is a genre of its own and a revolutionary masterpiece, i dont know if it will survive 2004 but i just refuse to remove it from my HD .
john_mcclane 0 Posted October 1, 2003 Well, name one game that's in the works that has everything Flashpoint: Resistance has. The only one I can think of that's trying to come close (trying being the key word here), is Secret Wars. Unfortunately, it looks to be taking a much more arcadish approach. For those that say OFP's graphics are dated, I think they need to install Resistance, set the terrain detail to high, view distance to 1500 or higher, maximum texture resolution, enable 4x FSAA, texture sharpening, digital vibrance, etc. I don't think anything between now and OFP 2 will come close to rendering such realistic large scale outdoor environments. The only downside is that you'll need a very fast PC to run it with those settings and get smooth gameplay...
