Hara Kiri 0 Posted July 7, 2003 what is difference between them?
edc 0 Posted July 7, 2003 I think paa can have an alpha channel and pac cannot, but other than that I'm not sure.
LizardX 0 Posted July 19, 2003 I can't describe it correctly, but the .pac will be "visible" through the dust, smoke, and the transparent textures. The .paa will work as usual.
maddogx 13 Posted July 20, 2003 The only real difference between the two is that the PAC format seems to have a 1 bit alpha channel, and PAAs have an 8 bit alpha channel. PACs are useful for making things like bushes because they only have either fully transparent or fully opaque parts, eliminating graphical errors that occur when using PAAs. Hara Kiri 0 Posted July 21, 2003 Thanks for that information
-Parabellum- 0 Posted August 7, 2003 PAA format also creates the 'blotchy' look that so many people complain about on OFP textures. PAC format is, IMHO, more suitable for opaque textures where complex alpha channels aren't needed.
