col_kurtz1979 0 Posted June 29, 2003 Ive been playing OFP multiplyer for nearly 2 years and I am no noob. I usually achieve 20 to 25 kills per 30min CTF while being killed about 10-15 times per game. However, Ive recently started hosting games of my own (St Pierre or dropzone, ect) and Im lucky if I get 10+ kills, if I do manage a kill the other guy will usually kill me at the same time. Im also being killed by the other players much more often when I host. St Pierre seems to be the worst for this, as soon as I move from cover Im often killed almost instantly. Why is it that when I host games I suddenly become the whipping boy?? Â Is it to do with lag??? adsl, PIII 1Ghz, 128mb RAM, 32MbGraphics........
blackdog~ 0 Posted June 29, 2003 I suggest you get more RAM although it might not be related. Get at least 384 (if you have an older motherboard) or 512 if you have a newer one.
Heatseeker 0 Posted June 30, 2003 This may not help very much but...128 megs ram , when the game came out i had that same amount of ram and the loading times were horrible, when i added another stick it improved so much, i would add atleast another 128 stick if i were you . Tactician 0 Posted July 1, 2003 Because when there's half the latency when receiving another player's gunshots, you die sooner than you seemed to when there was latency there. Also other players will see you warping less because there's no packet loss between you and yourself. It's sort of a disadvantage having the lowest ping sometimes. The solution is to shoot the person enough to kill them, then starting running out of the way before they even drop dead.
