waffendennis 0 Posted May 4, 2003 Well i just readed maruk's post of addons at ease for the 20th time and i cam up with this: Well i think this must do evry addon maker right? well i made some classes like soldiers>Cars>Armored>Air>MOD>Format>Stealing. lets first start with the cars: Well not thing to say about this class because on the cars the is no fancy scripting on the car class but i hope that the makkers of this class finish of the model 100% ( or atleast try it ) but i am sure if you got problems with it you can post it on the forums and some nice guys or girls are going to help you but i hope all the addon makers will make just demo missions with it so you can test it just like what maruk was saying . now the armored: Well i am srry but its the same as the car class but this time its a armored class so read above again . Air: Well this is the point about scripting and stuff ok for the choppers i think that evry chopper must come now with a dust script but that script must be turned off with a simpel command and i must be user friendly so it looks like real and for transport choppers i think if BAS allowes it that it must be a standart then to use that script for the cargo choppers. and for the planes well we got all kinds of plane types fast slower bombers aa fighters ww1 planes ww2 planes modern planes and i think there are no problems with it only try to make them fit in OFP with the speed and the handeling Mod: Well i like the idea where you can choose your own things like this: West>Waffendennis Navy>Aircraft Carrier but i think those things ar only for the real mods like : invasion44 Gulf War crissis Crome City and that mods so we dont have a full list of names in our class list and all the other addons can just be under the BIS classes : Car>Armored>Air>Men>Support. Format: Well as maruk where saying in the addons at ease post i think its better to use a installer so you dont need to download winzip/winrar/winace/winpk you can get free install makers on the net and its easy to make so i hope it will be the next way? but zip is better but if you must choose to zip/rar il say take the zip because almost evry one haves winzip . Stealing: Yep its even here in the ofp world you all know it stealing of textures from a other model or stealing models and claim they are yours... wel i think we must put some thing to this and i came up with this: 1:if you want to use any part of a addon you must contact the ofical maker to aske for the use or if the autor says its free you dont have to contact the author 2:You must put credits in your readme file of the ofical maker in it and what part you used so there is no confuseing about that and now the othere ways 1:If some one is stealing then we can do this: warn the person and if he/she does it again he/she will be banned from the OFP forums. 2:or: We just can ban him w/h a warning. Well i hope you all agree with me about all the things and i like to know what you all think about this

You can hardly see the slider bar as the units number so highly, and the list has become so long. How can you define a "real mod" (to use your phrase). Many addons/addon packs are "mods" in there own way, just on a smaller scale. I agree on the rest of your points, but the mandatory inclusion of dust scripts etc, might not be necessary/possible as, although some scripts are easy to adapt (such as Kegetys' bleeding script), not all scripts are so easily edited, and just because you make addons, doesn't mean you know how to script. Thanks, Jackal326
edc 0 Posted May 4, 2003 While I don't think there should be seperate class folders for an addon that just includes 1 or 2 units, but if its has several units, I think it should
PFC_Mike 2 Posted May 5, 2003 making your own classes for everything can be pretty stupid. Some specific examples are NO's Mi-2 and Mailman's Alfa CT's. When you have just one helicopter and aren't likely to release a whole bunch more anytime soon, what's the point? Likewise, if you have just three units in your new class, is that folder really necessary? One final point-if you can be bothered to make a new folder, spend the 30 seconds it will take to check the spelling. Even if English (or RUssian or Czech or German for that matter) isn't your first language there are plenty of people in the OFP community who can help you. Jackal326 1181 Posted May 5, 2003 I agree on both those points, perhaps I didn't make myself very clear in my first post. Of course its not practical for single units (to use your example the Mi-2) to have their own class. Addons such as the HK Pack, which contains many units, but isn't classed as a MOD should have its own class, but sadly doesn't. (Probably due to it being released before the ability to add new classes was fully realised/implemented)
Major Fubar 0 Posted May 5, 2003 Yes, seperate classes aren't much use for individuals addons, but when an addon contains multiple units, it is a good idea.
Lt_Phoenix 0 Posted May 5, 2003 Lets not forget addon tags. Bloody frustrating when some addons overwrite others because they have the same tag
