CuteQA 0 Posted May 3, 2003 MMM... Â fix the topic to "How many version HUMVEEs are in US Army." A humvee with AMRAAM!! Also, is US Army still using m113 ambulance or they use Humvee do the job? Â
FSPilot 0 Posted May 4, 2003 M113 is still in use, I remember seeing videos of it in the gulf war. Are you sure those are AMRAAMs? They look huge!
edc 0 Posted May 4, 2003 Yeah, I think those are AIM-120's(though I guess those would be MIM-120's since their launched from the ground) , they look like it, and I've heard something about it. Here's a link http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/missile/aim-120.htm The part about the hummer mounted ones is about 1/2 way down the page There are a huge amount of different types of hummers, several air defense types, one w/ more armor, ones w/ tows, mk19s, m-60s, m-2s, I've seen one w/ a .50 caliber sniper rifle (to destroy mines), medic ones, etc.
CuteQA 0 Posted May 4, 2003 Will this take over the avenger system???
edc 0 Posted May 4, 2003 Probably not, since the avenger is more of a shorter range system, and this would be more of a medium range system. Â If it was to replace anything it would probably be the HAWK sam(though the hawk sam is more of a fixed SAM site, versus this being more of a front line, mobile, site). FSPilot 0 Posted May 4, 2003 I've ridden in one when we went to one of the firepower demonstrations at McGuire (I prefer my Dad's staff Jeep though, yeah baby ) those things need some better shock absorbers. you can stick missles on them, sniper rifles, machine guns, but I still hit my head on the ceiling every time we hit a pothole. //relic// 0 Posted May 4, 2003 There are a huge number of variants on the basic HMMWV chassis. That particular variant is known as the HMRAAM, and that is an AMRAAM FSPilot - an AMRAAM is 3.6m in length.
Polishdude 0 Posted May 4, 2003 I was checking out the War on Iraq site, and saw about 20 hmvees. AA AT Heavy Grenadier Sea Humvee just like a hmvee accept it floats. and lots of more but 20 is the limit.

FSPilot 0 Posted May 4, 2003 Bah, nothing beats the jeep. Especially in OFP. I can't see a thing when I'm driving that HUMVEE.
LaPoi 0 Posted May 4, 2003 Yeah, it doesn't make sharp turns and takes up too much room.
FSPilot 0 Posted May 4, 2003 If only they made it manual transmission though. that would just make my day

PitViper 0 Posted May 5, 2003 Check out this humvee </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">This is a stupendous test shot of the LOSAT (Line of Sight Anti Tank missile). It's being launched off of a HUMVEE, which carries two loaded canisters on each side (4 missiles total). The commander/gunner can acquire and track three targets simultaneously, and engage one. Since the missile is hypervelocity (5000 feet per second), and has a maximum range of 5 kilometers, it doesn't take long to reqcquire and engage the next> two targets. The missile carries a kinetic kill warhead and penetrates all known or projected armor; it is 5 times more lethal than today's hottest tank round. It is also air droppable by parachute and can be sling carried by helicopter.<span id='postcolor'> what's the make on that tank that is hit?
