Jinef 2 Posted May 24, 2003 The US navy was stretched then, they even had the coast guard in Vietnam.
demspec3112 0 Posted May 26, 2003 yes thats a great idea. naval operations with landing crafts and of course Marines,Aircraft carriers,Submarines, and i want to sea vechiels in landing crafts, so you can transport a jeep or light tank all the way to the beach toghether with Marines or Navy Seals for special operations. PunkerSXDX 0 Posted June 1, 2003 I'm Totally Down for Ships, but Naval War would be tough in OFP, Naval War is too long Rage for the maps, and good Sailor Units would be a must.
The Frenchman 0 Posted June 1, 2003 The maps would have to be very very big just for a small battle. Yet, its a nice idea. But I don't think it will be featured because of the enviroments
Gollum1 0 Posted June 1, 2003 Heres a thought, if OFP is an infantry based simulation why does it have tanks... Because it´s infantry BASED? It´s not an "infantry-only simulation", but an "infantry based simulation" like you said yourself.

The Frenchman 0 Posted June 1, 2003 Still, Africa is too big to put on a (ofp) map.
Commander-598 0 Posted June 2, 2003 Who says your gonna put in a whole country or continent? Besides, what does africa have to do with Naval Warfare?
sir guernsey 0 Posted June 3, 2003 i think this is a rather interesting topic. unfortunately i think ofp2 will not incorporate a full blown naval simulation. though i would be happy about an aircraft carrier - just to use it in cutscenes. but after all carriers, their escorts and other large surface vessels would stay far off coastal waters, even while providing operations for ground troops. what ofp2 definitly needs (imho) are landing craft, assault boats, patrol boats and amphibs. in ofp there only was the m113 (for nato forces) and though hat vehicle family has amphibious qualities, they are designed for water ostacles like rivers and lakes, not for usmc style beach assaults. just my two cents
Commander-598 0 Posted June 4, 2003 I do recall, that a Destroyer sat within viewing distance of Vietnam, and supplied constant fire support for the troops. And i'm not saying we should include a dozen different support craft, just a couple of basics like an Aircraft carrier, Destroyer, and an Amphibious Assault Ship. The Frenchman 0 Posted June 4, 2003 what does africa have to do with Naval Warfare? It doesn't. One of the game's worlds will be Africa.
