Ohh....one small little idea .... For MP missions....

Could you add a text box where you can send side chat to your side. So then you wont have to exit the dialog to relay to them where an enemy is hiding or their position   biggrin.gif

LOL, nice request there, that is not easy to script, however you can already chat to your side in MP while viewing through the UAV, just like any other MP mission. smile.gif

How about

Camera Azimuth

Or

Camera Elevation

Or

Camera Rotation

The military likes to use complicated words, it makes them look intelligent!

Yes you can write a message during dialogs...

ooops I had no idea you could still send messages to your team within a dialog. I put it in my dialog for my UAV ... I guess I'm taking that out lol

Oh on the NV... Could you use a greenish transperant texture for that?? Then just have it overlaid on the dialog itself?? That way there wouldn't be just a small limited view (with a small hole) but the entire screen which would be typical with a camera

Yeah Uiox, something up with that action. I am sure someone did get the soldier to put them on before. I'm trying to solve it...

Bullz: It will not be a small limited view. smile.gif

Okay got it: player action["NVGOGGLES"]

this toggles on and off...

EDIT: So you can make a button that toggles NV on and off smile.gif

Hehhe, this will be a nice UAV.

Mister 5,

Are you sure you're using version 1.91?

I seems to remember that I had the same message before I upgraded.

Already tried that, and it didn't work... Thanks for trying to address my problem though!

Hmm, I didn't think of that (in the readme, it only says that 1.90 is required). Thanks for the suggestion, I'll get right on it and see how it works out.

EDIT:

I just upgraded and tried it out... no luck. sad.gif

Wow.

I just tried this out in a quick thrown together mission on the new Afghan map.

I've got to say, It's the most interesting addon I've seen in a long time, Congratulations on a great job.

I have some constructive critisism you might like to hear (or ignore).

1) When you go back to the player view, then return to camera view the camera tilt & zoom angles are all reset to default, Any chance you could make it keep the settings you had at last view ?

2) Enemy don't show up on your map if you see them through the camera, Could just be because my mission was thrown together without setting the GPS up in the script ?, can anyone confirm this ?

3) Enemy won't engage, I ran over guys in an enemy platoon & they didn't fire a round, just ran away, any chance you could make the enemy engage if you get too close ? (please don't make it show up on radar tho, would make it useless on any map with tanks or choppers)

4) Perhaps make it just a little quieter, so you can't hear it till it's within 200m or so.

5) Perhaps make it possible to switch to the map view & back without going back to the 1st player view, is this possible ?

6) Make it possible to select targets/ coordinates through the camera view, command a chopper/ tank to engage while you watch from a safe distance.

7) Make a land/ engine off option.

8) Could just be my imagination but it seems to steer slightly to the right.

Most of these things are trivial but would make a big difference if they are possible.

Once again, Congratulations of an excellent addon, I look fowards to using it in more detailed missions.

Thx Al

1) Yes I will do that

2) It's a camera view, so you don't reveal objects to OFP radar.

3) No AI in it, OFP don't engage empty vehicle. Can be done in config.cpp, Vladimir studies problem...

4) You are right, have to add own sound to this uav

5) yes some nice effects can be done with map, will do that.

6) I will try to do this with laserdesignator (only this way is possible, I think, for the moment)

7) Land ok, engine off have to look.

8) Yes it's a bug, I don't give to setvelocity good parameters, but it's a random effect (sometime left, or right), it's more realistic biggrin.gif

Thx for very constructive critisism, no simply very good ideas...

It MIGHT be possible to script in a targeting optiont of sorts...perhaps by creating a 'marker' at the place on the map (x and y coordinates) where the UAV is currently located...for example...a UAV operator is scanning an area of the map and sees enemy troop movement, he can then click a button on the interface which will setpos a map marker (possibly shaped like the UAV itself...much like the one present in the editor) at his current location...this will give the operator an easier method of explaining the situation to his team via chat...(ie: enemy armor moving north of current map marker) It wouldnt give an exact location, but that would probably make it even more realistic in that the common grunt on the ground isnt going to be able to get a 100% accurate location, but rather, a broad overview of enemy troop placements.  Exact descriptions of the location would be up to the operator.

Again...great work on this addon...I am enjoying it tremendously and I look forward to the next release!

I was wondering if there was any way that you could tell me how to put up the silverish screen and cross hairs that is displayed on the dialog screen???

I'm not great with camera scripting so i don't really know the borders confused.gif

If its a texture or textures of some sort, could i kindly use them in the beta im going to post up probably this week. All I have left to do is the dialog interface look and making a sample mission for mission makers to learn from it biggrin.gif

Very nice addon smile.gif

A few ideas:

First, maybe make it possible to insert one thats not empty and that you can give waypoints to so you can be the enemy and try to detect and shoot it down.  Also, that would (probably) make it possible to give a group friendly to it a guard waypoint, so they would engage whatever the UAV finds.

Also maybe have a few more types, as someone previously stated maybe a Russian one, and also maybe a Predator.  For the predator, it'd be cool if you could control it like a regular plane(ie with a joystick or the keyboard).  Also for the predator (and if realistic the others)have it so you can only control it and look through the camera if you're standing near a certain truck, like the control truck things that are used(I hope you understand what I mean there, I wasn't very clear).

A third idea, maybe (again if its realistic) fit some of them with armarment.  For example the Predator can and has carried Hellfires.

A really good piece of work, good job smile.gif

edit: just thought something, this would go really nice with the support pack. wow.gif  I wonder how/if it could be implemented.

Silverish screen is a picture

Cross hair is 4 lines included in the dialog.

All what you see in uav control interface is done with controls dialog.

Thx

I'm working on WP, it's hard to do, but a good idea.

There is some different project of uav of other nations, can't tell more for the moment...

I have alpha version with armament, but not realistic and with a lot of problems of precision of the shot.

thanks uiox... i do have another question....

I've created a dialog to help all mission makers or anybody to place the cameras I made...

I've branched it out to be able to move any object or anything in the game with a list of variables that would just require someone to write it down and place it in their script....

I've created a small model to place all the scripts into it...and pbo-ed it....

thing is i can't get it to go to the init.sqs file within the pbo...

which is named Bullzeye.pbo

it doesn't say i have any errors in the bullzeye\resource.cpp file so i think im good there...

to start up the init.sqs file ive put in the player's init line <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">this exec "bullzeye\init.sqs" but it says it can't find the script....

I noticed all of your scripts is made into one nice file... how did you get it to read the init file?
