    Bushfires Mod

I didn't have the opportunity to do it sooner, so I'm doing it now, and add my congratulations to the list: Bushfire Mod, your work is awesome. Keep up the good job. Your mod looks very interesting. I hope this will lead to more collaboration in the future with Operation Frenchpoint Mod about conflicts in Africa. Perhaps this could be an occasion to harmonize the configs of the units, so that they could be fully compatible. I can't wait to see more of your work

    OFrP New Releases!!!

For those wondering if there is going to be a release of an OFrP armor pack: The pack is in the works right now. It will be a pack independant from the vehicles pack. The release date is unknown.

    OFrP New Releases!!!

MaximoPoder, Check that you have all the OFrP pack, since they're intertwinned and depending on each others. You need to have: OFrP_Armes.PBO OFrP_Infanterie.PBO OFrP_Objects.PBO OFrP_Air.PBO OFrP_Vehicules.PBO Also make sure you don't have the RIMa.PBO and REP.PBO (Marine Infanterie and French Foreign Legion) from Remo in your addon folder, or else you'll have a lot of OFrP units no longer appearing in the editor, since Remo's packs are not compatible with the new versions of the OFrP infantry.

    French addons

Also, the title of this topic is French Addons by Bizzaroide. I have some trouble understanding why irrelevant news about the OFrP mod have been posted in this thread, since it may create some confusion as to who has done what. Also news about the OFrP team not posted by OFrP members are the responsability of their author only and are only speculation.

Architect, LOL, this is was a typical french bad temper due to a case of mistaken identity. Talk about French hospitality ! I believe uiox really didn't intended flaming you, he just have mistaken you for an other person. Actually, uiox is a very nice person, but one with a very bad temper (although it doesn't last very long ) Actually, the french usually take pride in being called names like "frog", so I hope the english peoples are feeling in the same mood when they're nicknamed "rosbeef" Remo (if I remember well) have made a PBO file with french army songs. For the idea of the pbo with french voices, Raphy had started a complete mod of the voices in OFP for the french, but we have no news since about one month ago. Also, there is the voices made in french for the Komoe mission. If I remember well, AF-mod has recorded a lot of voices for this mission. Perhaps it could be possible to ask them to borrow at least some of the voices they recorded? Also, there is still the possibility of french peoples at the OFrP forum willing to help to record voices for a mission (a lot were willing to help Raphy, and they might be interrested to give a helping hand in recording voices for a mission) I think many french players of Operation Flashpoint would be delighted to see more missions involving french troops, and might be willing to do the voices. And why not a collaboration with the peoples from the OFrP team? our partners from the FAR are doing missions and voices for the official OFrP missions. I don't know if they would have time, but it woud be worth a try. -Horrido

Miles Teg, I really appreciated your comments about the use of the french vehicles, and tactics to be used with them, and especially the part where you're saying that you're doing a mission with OFrP addons, seeing how you speak of it, I have the feeling that the mission will be a good one. I find the idea of multi-nationality operations very interesting. That would be something great to do in multiplayer, doing a mission with three sides: for example, a side for West with Canadians, or Norvegians (or whatever), a side for Resistance (like the French OFrP soldiers) allied to the West, and an opposing force for the East side. Each of the West and Resistance side would have each it's own briefing for a combined operation, and the East side (opposing force) could be played either by other players, or AI. Anyway, Miles Teg, if you're doing missions with the OFrP soldiers, we would really appreciate if you could leave a message on the English forum of OFrP, to let the french people not reading this forum, know that a mission is available for them to play. Also, I'm pretty sure that you would find help there if you have any questions about the french army and it's tactics (there are french military people reading the forums, and they might be of help to you) or help to translate your briefing and voices in french if you want to do a multi-language version. I advise every non-french peoples doing missions with our units to visit the english-speaking section of our forum at NdF/OFrP to tell us of their work, and to ask for help if they should have any questions. At the moment, the english OFrP forum as just a few visitors, but don't hesitate do come say "hello!" as many french are speaking some english and could be happy to help you or answer your questions. The OFrP forum is not made only for the french speaking peoples. We at OFrP hope to see missions being done by non-french peoples featuring the OFrP addons, and would appreciate to hear of any multi-national operation scenario, or French Foreign Legion missions, as the FFL are always very popular and could probably attract more peoples to play with OFrP addons. -Horrido

If I remember correctly, the Kolwezi Operation Bonite May 19th 1978 was made from C-160 Transall aircrafts. 2e REP 1st, 2nd and 3rd Cie and an element of 13e RDP where parachuted north of Kolwezi. 4th Cie/2e REP was airdropped the next morning east of the city. the operation lasted till the 27th, securing also several other villages in the vicinity of Kolwezi. The REP had 5 killed in action and fifteen wounded. The rebels lost 250 men, 2 AML-90, and a lot of armament. Especially effective where the "designated marksmen" with sniper rifle FRF1. -Horrido

As a gesture of good will and true friendship, I'm wondering if I should include a "white flag" addon in the next OFrP release, to please even the anti-french players of Operation Flashpoint -Horrido

    Operation frenchpoint release

Thanks a lot for your interresting comments about the hate/love relationship between the US and the frenchs, Miles Teg. Sorry to start speaking of political matters in this thread, but I think such discution is necessary in order to help US and France understanding each others. That is the reason why i'm feeling that I've to explain the french point of view, in the hope of helping both our countries to understand each other. I 'm french and I totally agree with your point of view. French peoples really feels that they're treated like an ennemy by the US citizens - and also some UK citizens (french peoples are experiencing this every days on the web, where they're insulted on a daily basis). All this propaganda stuff is really stupid, because it deserves both France and the United States. The french peoples think that it is the duty of a true ally to try to stop them doing a mistake. This is what happened with the GW2, where Irak was not seen by the french as a true threat (they've almost no weapons left in comparison to GW1). The imaginary threat of massive destruction weapons and the alleged link with al quaeda is seen by the french as a manipulation of Bush friends lying to the american peoples (trying to trigger their paranoia, in order to manipulate their opinion easily). The Bush government is trying to expand US domination over the world for their own personnal monetary benefits (not for the benefit of freedom of the Iraquis, or for suppressing an illusory threat to the US) and doing this, they're sacrificing the life of US soldiers without consideration for their families. The french peoples where anticipating that the war would be won easily by the american troops at the expense of just a few casualties. But they also anticipated the many casualties that followed. As long as the US soldiers would occupy Irak, soldiers of the coalition would die because the iraqis would never accept the occupation of their country by US forces. Also, there is the problem of the embargo that killed thousands of Iraqis, and sure the peoples in Irak are resentfull because of this. France was not willing to participate in this war because it didn't seems legitimate in the goals pursued, and because of the risks involved in adding more ressentment in arabs peoples. It was like putting oil on fire. Sure, the removal of Saddam is a good thing, but it was not the goal pursued by the Bush government. The threath of biological and chemical weapons was seen as a true hypocrisis from Bush, as it is the US government that sold thoses very weapons to the Iraqis. In the eyes of the frenchs, this war was motivated only by the greed of the Bush administration, at the expense of the American peoples and Iraqis, and would not ease the suffering of the iraqis and suppress the alleged threath to the US, but instead increase the Iraqis suffering, and increase the hate of the USA by the Arab peoples, thus resulting in many more death among the US and Iraqis. To the french peoples, theses events have shown how the Bush government didn't hesitate to manipulate the american peoples to achieve their own private interest, sacrificing lives without hesitation, and only putting more oil in the fire and thus reinforcing the support to the Islamic extremists. French peoples have no doubt that the US Bush government would not hesitate a minute to declare war on France if it served it's own purpose. The fact is that since the fall of the Eastern Block, there is no counterbalance to US military power, and that an unscrupulous government like the Bush one is not hesitating to use the economic and military power of the USA to try to achieve world domination. US peoples want to give freedom to the rest of the world and protect themselves, and the Bush administration is using theses feeling to manipulate the americans and use the US army to oppress other peoples in order to achieve economical domination, sacrificing peace in the process. French peoples have generaly no doubts about the good and legitimate intentions of american peoples; they've also no doubts about the hypocrisis and the unscrupulous behavior of the Bush administration, and the many risks it involves. In european history, we've already seen several times such governments using their citizens in order to achieve their own interests through world domination (no need to name them, memory is still very present). Europeans have already suffered a lot from the hands of these peoples (as have the americans during WWII), and as such, we are very unwilling to commit ourselves in such a mess. So, I don't see why american peoples should see the french as ennemies. We've been friends since the creation of the United States, and we even have taken part in it. They should rather take heed of the warning and open their eyes and see for themselves the risks that the Bush administration represent to the USA and for the peace of the world. -Horrido
