NavyEEL 0 Posted April 17, 2003 Whenever I put in my OFP cd and the Autorun splash screen pops up... the splash screen comes up twice. The exact same splash screen, but two of them come up instead of just one to where i have to close one of them and then click "play" on the other one. This occurs with both OFP:Resistance and the regular OFP, and it also happens occasionally with other CD-based games such as Warcraft III and a few others. Any ideas as to what is causing this, and how I can eliminate it? Thanks.
Mister Frag 0 Posted April 17, 2003 If you have a Creative Labs sound card (Sound Blaster Live!, Audigy etc.), get rid of the Media Detector, which tries to detect the type of disk you insert and take an appropriate action, such as playing a music CD or launching the AutoRun file. This utility is buggy as hell, and not worth the hassle. Besides that, the AutoRun settings for Explorer may be messed up and causing two instances of every process to launch -- that can be fixed using RegEdit. Which OS do you have? NavyEEL 0 Posted April 18, 2003 i'm running Win98SE. and media detector... is that the same as the little disc detector icon in the taskbar? if so how do i disable it?
Mister Frag 0 Posted April 18, 2003 Just go into the Windows Control Panel, open up the Disk Detector applet, and disable it from there.

Mister Frag 0 Posted April 18, 2003 It's a worthless program anyway. Besides the bugs that are in it, it duplicates functionality that is already present in Windows Explorer. Why Creative Labs even bothered to foist that piece of junk on us is beyond me.
