kurt 0 Posted April 16, 2003 Hi I running OFP under 2 cpu athlon mp 1800+, 1 server of OFP take 50% cpu with 10 player into, is ridicolous Can u explain me any tweak for better cpu utilization ? And why after some hour memory usage go to 300mb ... The other server like quake 3, cs ecc dont have this problem. OFP is the only server on this machine and there arent other service running Thanks
shrike 0 Posted April 17, 2003 I suggest you get comfortable with this...there is no tweak to improve/reduce CPU usage. OFP dedicated server is power hungry like no other game. Use the admin command #monitor to check the performance in-game. Once you get below 15 fps it will get choppy but good games are possible down to 10 fps from my experience. Proper map design and scripting is crucial to keep MP games in the flow.
kurt 0 Posted April 17, 2003 and the settings msg send, bandwidth ecc. doing something for better cpu usage ? and what is a good value for it ? I have 100Mbit
bn880 5 Posted April 17, 2003 100Mbit, I can at least suggest you increase the parameter MaxSizeGuaranteed="1048"; or more.
MitchSchaft 0 Posted April 18, 2003 OFP will use all the CPU you can throw at it. It won't make use of a dual cpu system, though. When you see it running at 50%, that's the same as 1 cpu running at 100%. All you can do is get a faster CPU. Your CPU should be fine, though. What you really need to worry about is your upload bandwidth. Our server is run off a T3 and I've seen upload bandwidth being used as high as 9Mb/sec. kurt 0 Posted April 20, 2003 the ridicolous is that a times ago i used ofp dedicated on PIII 600 and it worked fine, 50% Cpu and for PIII 600 is ok. Now always 50% but is a fast cpu. I dont have any problem upload ecc, i can have all bandwidth that i need
legowarz 0 Posted April 22, 2003 hi, if you're running an MP, system (like me) you could try setting an affinity, it helps me. set the OFP_server.exe to CPU1 only, and the flashpoint game to say, CPU0 only. Â This way, the server gets a whole processor to its self you can set afinitys, but going to your task manager (ctrl+shit+esc) going to "processes" right clicking on a process, and select "set Affinity" Â then just uncheck one of the processors, to force either or. you could also try bumping up it's priority hope that helps -joesiv edit: do any of you guyz know how to list dedicated servers in gamespy (1.46 or 1.91)? OR, to get 1.91 dedicated servers to work with custom addons(!!, this would be GREATLY appreciated! www.legowarz.com
Mister Frag 0 Posted April 22, 2003 You can also alter the executable file header using the IMAGECFG.EXE utility that came with the NT Resource Kit -- the -a switch lets you specify the bits corresponding to the processors that the image is allowed to execute on. Once you do that, you don't have to fiddle with the processor affinity mask in Task Manager. If anyone wants the file, you can download it here. (Edit: Fixed the URL, which got mangled in the forum upgrade)
kurt 0 Posted May 30, 2003 i tryed to change the affinity, but task manager said me that i cant change affinity why ?
Mister Frag 0 Posted May 30, 2003 i tryed to change the affinity, but task manager said me that i cant change affinity why ? Hard to tell -- were you trying to change the affinity for OFP using Task Manager, or were you trying to change the affinity of some other process? If it is some other process, it may have been marked as uniprocessor-only. Finally, do you have sufficient access privileges to change the processor affinity?
