Othin 0 Posted March 2, 2003 I finally fufilled one of my dreams and visited a Battleship. Thought some of you might enjoy the pics. What's interesting about the Wisconsin compared to most of the other Battleships is that it's still owned by the Navy. So you can't go inside as it's being dehumified. Basically if they got the call they could have her back out to sea within a year. Anyways, pics are here: My visit to the USS Wisconsin

The Preble wasn't open for touring though :\

I know the New Jersey is owned by the state itself, the way it was explained to me was that the rest were owned by cities or non-profit organizations. MrMilli 0 Posted March 2, 2003 Battleships such a good concept really isn't it Lets build it big Lets put the biggest heaviest guns we can on top alas, being able to do something with a cheap shell just can't compete with being able to do something with an expensive unreliable slow (compared to a shell) missile these days (apparently )
Guest Posted March 2, 2003 Non-profit organisations? Like what? Sounds bizzare!

Necromancer- 0 Posted March 2, 2003 Ah yes.... the Intrepid.. I've been there about 4 years ago. That ship is massive! I've also seen a T-72 and a BMP which they captured from the Iraqi's. Next ship i want to see is one of those massive battleships like the Wisconsin.
