Still unable to play ofp lol

Recommended Posts

:crazy:that dumb DF394B.TMP. error is still not fixed. thanks to avon's website It showed me what problems my PC may have. I did everything it said to do but I didn't try to update my Chipset thing it is an Intel not a VIA. I am thinking that may be the problem, I been to Intel.com to try to download an update but I have no clue what to download. If you know What I need to Download Can you send me a directlink to the download. VIA4in1 does not work on My PC so it can't be that.

also I am also thinking that my CD could be bad, because when I tryed installing a redhammer update it said "operation Flashpoint is not installed or installation is corrupted I don't Think it is a flaw one because the UPC is 76764940046

but can it be possable a Bad CD?

It is very possible it is a bad CD. however we can't determine that for you, maybe Codemasters?

If you tried it i two other machines, and they were not filled with the same hardware as yours, you can bet your bottom the CD is bad.

So did the other two machines have the same kind of hardware like CR-ROM drive, DVD-drive, Vid card etc?

one which is an older is a pentium 3 128MBa and can use VIA and I tryed useing VIA4in1 and when I tryed to play the game it did the same thing give me the DF394B.TMP. the other one is a Pentium4 2.4 512MB and I am not sure if it uses VIA but it is only 2 weeks old. the older one uses a

CD-rW drive and a DVD one whikle the new one uses the same drives but not sure if it is VIAbut it is new so it should work. so the CD must be bad, I will try to take it back tomorrow and get a new one hopefuly I can return it and get a new one crazy.gif

Good, and good luck.

If they are not very willing to replace it, let them know you tried contacting Codemasters and you asked for help on the BIS forums etc. you got the advice of other players that the CD is most likely bad.

I don't know how old your CD is, they may not replace it of it's older than 2 weeks. confused.gif

This is a well known Safedisk error, the CD is ok.

You've got a problem with either the type of CD Drive you have, especially if it is a CDR or multiple CD drives, or if you are running something in the background that is killing Safedisk.

Your solutions are either to try a different drive, or to get a 3rd party patch to remove the Safedisk copy protection from the OFP exe. If you have a legal copy of the game, with your valid CDKEY, it is basically "ok" to remove the copy protection so you can play without the CD. Make sure you keep a copy of the original exe in case you need to upgrade, because OFP probably checks for that.

The reason Codmasters don't want to answer you is because this is a well known problem with many games and there is no fix for it other than to remove Safedisk or force you to change hardware. It is pretty much their fault for knowingly using this copy protection scheme that is incompatible with certain configurations and not warning customers about it.

I agree with toadeater, if the game installed, but won't run, I don't think the CD is bad. That is because the installation program tries to verify that an original disk is present.

If you are using Windows XP, try these two fixes:

http://www.macrovision.com/solutions/software/fix.php3

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/release.asp?ReleaseID=35831

You won't find these using the search tools on either site -- Macrovision has no link to the fix page, and Microsoft's Knowledgebase also doesn't contain an entry for theirs.

No, these two fixes are specific to problems with XP.

I just now tryed the winXP update on my dad's PC which uses WinXP and it didn't work. Are you sure there I can't download a safedisc patch that would help me for WindowsME or a drivers update. This is getting annoying

Maybe you want to explain why it doesn't function with two other machines? smile.gif

No, not really. I don't know yet what causes the problem, but I'm convinced it is a software (SafeDisc) problem, and not a bad disk. The disk check obviously worked during the initial installation of OFP, so the disk itself can't be bad. That leaves us with a possible SafeDisc problem or a software conflict.

I was a "can't install the upgrade" victim myself more than once with some of the early upgrades.

We are not actually allowed to discuss removing safedisk on these forums, currently I can tell you you will not be fully satisfied if you remove it. That's my info... smile.gif

Mr Frag, I would not bet on your deduction. wink.gif There is more to this safedisk than meets the eye. Or maybe I'm just wrong about this, in that case ignore me, I like to be ignored. wow.giftounge.gif

My question is, are you attempting to play the unpached version or have you patched, if patched, what version?

I need to sleep right now... smile.gif

I the only patch I am able to install on my computer is the

upgrade 2 and the update V 1.3 which should be upgrade 3. upgrade 4 tells me the DF394B.TMP. redhammer update tells me that OFP is not installed or installation is corrupted.

the other one gives the DF394B.TMP. error. I hope hopeing I am missing something lol

Yep so I really think you need a different CD! smile.gif You won't be removing Safedisk from all the exe's and patches, it's not what you payed for anyway.

I don't know if you did yet, but why not exchange your CD and go from there? (sorry if I missed something you wrote)

Did all the machines you try it on have CDRWs? That's what often causes Safedisc to get an error. I dunno what else to tell you, if you have a legal copy, get "no-cd" patches for OFP and the updates. These aren't made by BIS, you'll have to find them yourself.
