Chomps 0 Posted February 11, 2003 I love the shading on the textures! It is looking great, but any word on if he has a working VTOL mode? Even without, it would be a great addon to have.
Guest #### Posted February 12, 2003 That does look sweet. Falklands Mod is going to be a nice addon.
jotte 0 Posted February 12, 2003 Chomps, IIRC the Falklands mod have a video of the Harrier showing just what you are asking about.

I think that the problem they are working on now is to land vertically too :] As I remember, there was no landing in movie, so I assumed that probably they are having problems with this part, what is clearly understandable - while takeoff, they made something that pushes plane up - as I understand. And then, they try to fly forward... but to land, they have to stop machine in air, and then pull the plane down, wich is very, very hard to do as I think... So, overall, altough it seems to be almoust finished, we could wait for a long time till this little flying can will be able to land same as it did with take-off... Dark Knight 0 Posted February 12, 2003 i have a VTOL script... with it u can take off, land, fly to correct speed to set to normal mode... very sweet! i even used the script for a car.... very funny.... only prob with it is then if u exit the vehicle it will stay where it is... forever even when destoryed it will still be there... i think it the the same script they are using for the harrier... enless they have updated it... I am doing extensive changes to it in regards to landing/abandoning and crashing. Also working on an auto land script which should allow the ai to land vertically on designated vtol pads (similar to the H pad). What the harrier needs is a script that will allow hover similar to the helicopter hover. The biggest problem I see at the present time is slowing an aircraft from say 400kph to 0 to land. But I guess with a bit of work anything is possible. Apart from that normal takeoff and landing is done along with conventional autopilot landing. Pitch and roll cannot AFAIK be implemnted using scripts.
AXE 0 Posted February 12, 2003 I love the attention to detail, looks like they even animated the little inlets around the fan intake. I've also tried VTOL scripts, and I found that it is just as easy to take off as it is to land
Wonder 0 Posted February 12, 2003 Excellent details! This is how all addon models should be like!
