Why change the crew's weapons anyway, the new textures on the gun look terrible! The power of the 100mm gun is fine, but there is a problem with it which I can't believe no one has mentioned! The velocity must be terrible! When you try to fire at a vehicle about 200m+ away, the rounds fall short! You have to aim above the target to get the weapon to hit! Despite these (major) problems I still really liked it, especially the version with ERA. Better textures, and a little more detail on the vehicles itself would be good. But still a very cool add on. But please fix the gun.<span id='postcolor'> Umm... that's actually normal. You're supposed to aim above targets... shells drop over distance. However, you may have a point in that the shells drop really far, really fast. I don't know what the velocity of the 100mm rounds is supposed to be, but they seem a little too slow. I could be wrong.<span id='postcolor'> True about the drop of a shell...but not after 200 meters. Â A high velocity tank shell should shoot fairly flat out to a very long range. Â I think that the problem he pointed out was a valid one. With that said, I still think the cannon is overpowered. Â It destroys M1's with two hits. Â I think it would be better if it was toned down to be closer to the dammage the BIS made T-55 cannon causes. Â Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD><span id='postcolor'> Is the BMP-3's main gun a high velocity weapon? I could swear I heard it was a low-velocity one... hmm... a quick check of the FAS website only says that it's a rifled gun. I'll defer to the majority opinion on this. On the other hand, does anyone know what a BMP-3F looks like? It's a naval infantry version of the BMP-3. Might be fun to have...
miles teg 1 Posted February 14, 2003 As far as I know the only low velocity cannon on the BMP and BMD series was the 73mm cannon found on the BMP-1 and the BMD-1. It used some kind of rocket assisted projectile if I remember right. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
Major Fubar 0 Posted February 14, 2003 I wonder with all these cool russian armoured vehicles coming out, if anyone's ever going to get around to an armed BRDM? (Or armed UAZ or Ural for that matter). Â

Don't you people use Sigma-6s addons? The BMP-3 takes about 6 hits to destroy Sigma-6s M1A2 which to me is fine. Not sure about his T-90s. Ya see the problem? All unofficial AT weapons and armored vehicle addons would have to match Sigma's. Hence the problem and why I don't use them even if they are wonderful looking and more realistic in some ways. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
ZLOY 0 Posted February 15, 2003 well........sucks for you......... they are balanced pretty good with weapons like Kegs rpg7/v, and the normal AT launchers in the game...
Aneurysm 0 Posted February 15, 2003 As ZLOY said, they seem to work fine with other add-ons. DKM Mods AT-7, TOW, and M-46 can all take out Sigma's heavier tanks (M1A1/A2/T-90/T-80UM) in about 2 shots which seems pretty good to me. This BMP-3 is quite capable at taking out lighter tanks like Leopard 1s, M-60s and IFVs like the M2A2 but struggles against (though is still possible) against M1A2s. That BMD-3 that AKM-74 made has a 100mm gun just as powerful, (if I remember right) so these two add-ons complement each other well. As for most other heavy armoured vehicle add-ons - well there isn't actually that many, and most of them like the two Challenger 1s that were made, are so horribley unrealistic I refuse to play with them anyway. Andrew B 0 Posted February 16, 2003 The BMP's 100mm cannon is not, repeat, not an anti-armor weapon. The 100mm is a low pressure gun just like the 73mm of the BMP. It was added as the 30mm loaded with HE/Frag was found to be less desirable for anti-personnel use in many situations than the older 73mm low-pressure gun of the BMP loaded with HE/Frag. It's the same thing as the 73mm, just bigger. To my knowledge, the BMP3s don't even carry HEAT rounds for the 100mm. Only HE/Frag. The 30mm and the missile launcher are the weapons used for anti-armor and anti APC/IFV.

I noticed also however that they are developing a new round called the 3OUF19 which is supposed to have a higher velocity, but just to extend the range a bit. It also of coarse fires laser guided AT missiles through the 100mm gun tube as well so I assume that replaces any standard 100mm HEAT or SABOT rounds.
