Don't get me wrong, I never said anything (good or bad) about this addon - it looks fine, but I haven't downloaded it. I just didn't like pzvg accusing people here of "bitching", when they were just discussing the addon and spreading their oppinions - the idea of forums.

HELP! I just installed it, but now when i start opf-r the game starts fine, after the Codemaster sign pops up the opf game like goes to the comp screen, like when you press alt tab, then when i klick on it the thing pops up and then goes down, help!! Also I installed the addons in the opf addons folder

People, we do our best to bring you FREE addons to play with. Free. Each takes time and work, many of our boys work together just to complete one addon. We have new models and stuff in the works, but we thought the 101st even without would be a welcome addition to replace the old stuff.

Quite frankly, I'm beginning to wish we had just held them. Sure I may be coming off rough, but the weapon complains really hit a soft spot with me and I'm quite disheartened and even began wondering why the heck we do this.<span id='postcolor'>

Dude, WHO HAS made any kind of ugly complaints about your addons? I'm VERY sorry if you took my opinions as those of someone who is ungrateful. I tried to make it VERY clear that I REALLY REALLY like this addon. The weapons complaints were VERY VERY VERY minor!!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe you all received some really nasty emails, but I didn't see anyone being nasty about your addon here on this thread. If someone saying that the ammo names are not accurate, or that the gun sights are transparent is something that hurts your feelings then you shouldn't be making addons because guess what.... even the "final" versions will be critiqued heavily and most likely flaws (or perceived flaws by some people) will be discovered in it.

I'm sorry but in my previous replies I was trying to provide constructive criticism while also being generous to your addon. I've talked to some of your other team members about this project and I fully understand how much hard work went into it. I know you're not a MOD team like the 1944 MOD team and I'm not trying to create competition between the two mods. In fact I CLEARLY stated that I believed that your addon teams should work together to combine the best of both your airborne addons so I'm not sure where you got that idea. If you guys do indeed have better models or better textures, then that's excellent news. I don't think releasing this addon was a mistake. If you hold back future addon betas because of this just out of bitterness over some polite critiques we had about your addon then that's very childish and unprofessional behavior.

So please don't get hurt because some of us gave some constructive criticisms. If even that hurts your feelings then don't read this forum because these are the kind of things we discuss about every addon that comes out. That's simply not going to change unless the forum hosts decided to make new rules that forbids everyone from making critical comments about addons or addon betas. The purpose of a beta is to test it and receive feedback no?

Now if you're talking about some other harsh ugly responses from some other forum or from emails then I'm sorry people did not appreciate your addons there. But I think I can safely say that most people here REALLY REALLY appreciate you and your team's hard work and that they really like this addon despite it's very minor faults. Our criticisms are just so that your team is aware of the opinions on this addon and how we think it could be made better (or perhaps left alone).

They are just opinions and so far they have been made rather politely on this thread for the most part.

So quit ignoring all the praise this addon is getting and feeling sorry for yourself because we made some critiques about it. People really love this addon! You should be happy that we care alot about this addon. If it makes you feel better I think that overall the weapons are EXCELLENT! I mean like take the Thompson sub-machine gun for example. The model is very good and the sounds and characteristics are spot on. Sure the textures maybe could be improved, but even those are not bad at all and are as good if not better then most other weapon packs out there. Simply putting in proper ammo names and also adding the scripted init line weapon and ammo names in the readme file would do ALOT for improving the weapon pack overall. I say things like that because I want to encourage you to continue to improve this addon. Would you prefer that I lie and tell you that your addon is perfect and flawless? If you already know about those flaws then just say so and we'll all just say "ok kewl" and move on. If you don't agree with what we think are flaws then just say so and why. That might stir up a little debate, but as long as it's kept respectful it's no big deal.

So please keep up the excellent work and take all of this not as negative criticisms but as positive feedback for areas in which we hope to see improvements.

I read 14 posts about pure whines over our weapons, and then had countless people add me to their MSN just to bitch at me over them. We have new weapons in work and stuff, and that just didn't matter to them.

I'm sorry, I went through that then posted hastily in a disgruntled attitude.

Ouch.   No problem.  Yeah I can see where people adding you to their MSM just to complain could put you in a bad mood.  Sorry to hear about that.  Don't let those people get to you and just put them on your MSM ignore list.  

So chin up and be proud of this great addon!

Hehehe... I know Al, I've just been busy with several committments.  I have another mission I'm doing for an addon I'm beta-testing that has priority at the moment.  It'll be coming out with the addon.  I think you'll like it.  

This WWII mission however is finished for the most part and just requires a movie intro and ending... and of coarse finding all the URL's for downloading the addons.  

Oh by the way... does anyone have any links to any good WWII movie music? Or any type of soundtrack music in general that has nice big orchestral scores? If anyone does please PM me about it. Thx.

why is it that everytime someone fetches out a decent addon that some people feel the need to bitch and winge concerning every concievable fault no matter how minor. Having visited this forum on an almost daily basis since the launch of OFP. I have lost count of the number of able modellers who have jacked it in following the triades directed at their work (do I have to name them all). Here we are again " er I like it but" "its a nice addon but here's some constructive advice". WWEC guys ignore the rants of these self apponted critics who could'nt model a soddin cardboard box. You dont have to justify yourselves or your work to anyone tell them to get stuffed.

What the hell u guys ( and gals hi, avon! talking about....I44 didnt make new model, it the same soldier model but with a color around the neck and a new helmet and with a few things added like the bayonet and the shovel, but basically the same thing...which is exactly as much as WW2EC airborne has...maybe a bit less detailed uniform though.

Overall a good addon. Good job.

U say "dont agitate people further" that was not my intention. My sole intention was for people to ignore the critics who have done more to drive talented people away from this great game than to encourage then to produce new and exciting ways of enjoying it. Big Uzi, I was critiquing this addon quite a bit and I figured that among other people on this forum who also critiqued it you were also talking about me.   If you weren't talking about me and the others on this forum then you should be clearer in your posts...  and yes I did spare you from a book length reply.  LOL!     But I do agree that those people who sent rude and ugly critiques to WWEC members over emails, Instant Messengers, and other forums should indeed stuff it.

But if you think we were out of line here, well then be prepared to get pissed off at every single thread on new addons because we critique all of them for bugs or percieved faults. Sometimes people here are a little too blunt and don't offer enough encouragement, but most of the time the reviews are fair and point the good things about an addon as well.

Oh... and too Avon Lady, thanks for the link!!!  MUCH APPRECIATED!!!  Time to make these airborne soldiers into heroes!

does the bayonet actualy work? like if u run up to someone does it creat dammage to the unit touched my it?
