Silenced sniper rifles

Recommended Posts

I've searched a number of sites and this forum, but I haven't been able to locate a good silenced sniper rifle. If you know where I could get one, please let me know.

Go to the MOM section at The FAQ and look at the review for mission "Spetznatz Sniper Team" by Sergeant Barnes.

Read there what I have to say about the Russian Tula BCC 9mm sniper rifle.

I have a problem with silenced sniper rifles.. They usually end up as uber guns in games..

Like the BCC where they list it as having a range out to 400m, but the bullet muzzle velocity is 290 m/s so it is going to take the bullet 1.5-2 s to get there.. and it will probably not have much energy left then anyways..

The BCC is definitely an "uber" gun in OFP.

Well, I'll be more specific with my point in saying that I would not like having an "uber" gun all of the time but it is loads of fun every once in a while. smile.gif

I agree about silenced sniper rifles being uber weapons. I wonder if it's possible to lower the velocity of the bullets on these weapons so that they have less range. In actuality usually silenced sniper rifles use sub-sonic rounds for true "silenced" firing. However they can use regular rounds to make it a little more difficult to tell where the gun is being fired from. But there is still the super-sonic "crack" of the bullet that it makes. Anyone who has ever had rifle or large machine gune bullets going over their head knows what I'm talking about. That's another thing OFP doesn't simulate. smile.gif

There's some PSG-1 rifles in various camos (including silenced versions) at opflash.org by AMC. Unfortunately when I download them the .pbo file has nothing in it, and they don't work confused.gif .
