CWR III Terrain Pack

Recommended Posts

These Terrains were originally released as expansions for CWR² created by Jakerod. He now ported them to Arma3 and we agreed to release them again as part of CWR III.

However, Cold War Rearmed III is not required to use the terrains.

Canard '85
Canard Island is a scaled down version of Norfolk Island in the Pacific Ocean. The name Canard (french: Duck) is somewhat of an in-joke between CWR2/3 members (the duck part that is). The names of the various parts of the island and the towns located on it are based off of real places on Norfolk Island.
The island is meant to be in the same area as the Malden islands. It features five towns, two of which are ports, a small runway for Pegasus Air Taxi, a number of forests, and scattered farms.

Drachenfels '85
The island was originally created by Ivan Buchta for OFP. Back in the CWR² days, we decided to recreate this island as a tribute to Ivan.

Eilte '85
Eilte is a town found in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is located north of Hannover, east of Bremen, and south of Hamburg. During the Cold War, Eilte was in West Germany. The defense of the region around Eilte fell to the Dutch I Corps and the West German I Corps. This terrain is a 4km x 4km geospecific representation of the area as found in satellite photos.

Poseidon '85
Poseidon is based on BI's first terrain featured in the Poseidon Software Tech Demo from 1997. It is a very loose interpretation of it and represents the terrain if it had a Nordic influence on it. In addition to preserving the shape of the island the railway along the east coast is also preserved from the original version.

Saint David '85

The terrain features; 4 towns, 3 villages, 4 factories, several farms, 4 stone bridges, 2 wooden bridges, a castle, numerous forests, ravines, and hill tops. The height map data is based on high resolution real world data from the area near Yamhill, Oregon, United States of America. For reference purposes, the town of Couvin, Saint David is located on the real world location of Fidel Brothers Irrigation Reservoir.
