Need help identifying dependencies, please.

Recommended Posts

Can anyone help in identifying which mod the following dependencies come from?

tsw_ca_misc3

tsw_ca_misc_e_c

tsw_ca_buildings_c

I've recently gotten an error that says I cant play /edit my missions because they are dependent on downloadable content that has been deleted. The above 3 dependencies are mentioned.  I cant locate them anywhere (local drive or google search) and cant identify which mod they might have come from so I can roll the mod back.

You guys are my last hope 🙂

Your mission.sqm, if not binarized, should tell you.

Thanks for your reply, Harzach.  Can you please say more about where in the mission.sqm file it would say which mod these dependencies come from?  When I look in the addonsMetaData section, for example, I dont get more info than this:

        class Item2
        {
            className="tsw_ca_misc3";
            name="tsw_ca_misc3";
        };

The classname is just repeated in the name line. No author or url is mentioned.

Up at the top of the file, you should see a section that looks sort of like this:

addons[]=
{
	<list of addons required by mission>
};

It might not tell you explicitly which mod is the one you are looking for, but it will at least help us narrow it down.

Yeah, not sure what I was expecting, all we really get is those same names in a list.
The only clue I am working with at this point is the "ca" in the addon names. It has always signified Arma 2 content, which suggests it has something to do with either CUP or another mod that ported A2 assets into A3. I get nothing searching for "TSW" anywhere.

Thank you for looking.  I suspected CUP as well, because it has some "tsw" files, but i couldnt find those 3 specific "tsw" files.  I didnt know the significance of the "ca".

Did you try to remove the "tsw" file from the list?

That's what I do when that happened to me....

...sure..it's a pain in the azz, but sometimes it's the only thing that'll let you reopen the mission in the editor and fix it.

Zagor, yes, I did open one of the mission.sqm files and edit out all the mentions of the discrepancies (as well as change the item count) which allows me to open the file in eden, which then allows me to export a new mp file.  I've tested in MP with friends and the manually edited mission works fine.  The problem is now I have to manually update all my custom missions, and that will be a bit of a time sink. I was hoping to avoid that by finding out which mod crapped out and rolling it back, but Ill use the manual method as a back up if I need to.

I feel for you bud...it's a real pain. I forgot to mention that when I have the same problem, I delete the unwanted "files" from the mod list, reset the item count BUT then scroll down and by using the "Ctrl+F" command I find eventually any or all the entry with the prefix name (in your case it'll be TSW). Usually, they are objects /units/vehicles; I then substitute their class names with something like a bright yellow van for example, so when I open the mission in the editor I can see what was wrong. Once you uncovered the "foreign" object you can easily avoid the same mistake somewhere else. But indeed it's a pain to remove these "ghost" dependencies. Hopefully, in Arma 4, it will be much more easily solvable.

Ah, great idea! A helper object would be a good choice, too (a van might explode in some situations).

HAHAHA...yap...it happens sometimes...not really efficient, but really fun to watch...

Jokes aside, the helper it's a good idea. Sometimes the "ghosts" are ammo magazines or pieces of uniforms...so the helper object is safer and more effective...thank you bud!

I believe my issue my be due to a map called "New Esseker" having been removed from the Steam Workshop.  Anyone have info on this?

License violation, perhaps? The New Esseker "author" claims to have received permission from the original author of Esseker, but seems maybe they were not crediting them? Hard to say exactly what prompted it being pulled from Steam.
