How to get the AI to fly in a straight line

Recommended Posts

Hi there

The AI isnt flying in a dead straight line after I give it a waypoint.
It seems to go up and then nosedive and then pitch up again, all throughout its flightplan.

Its almost like its following the contour of the land directly beneath it, despite thee aircraft being 750 meters above ground

Is there a script to prevent this, or how can I fix this?

Hi,

AI (helicopters?) can´t fly in straight line above 500 meters. Known issue.

Ah right, ok. I'll try it again.

Yeah, sorry. This command has been through the broken/fixed/broken cycle a few times.

ah thats not a problem at all!

The error still persists tho. Im trying to do some aerial refueling but the tanker aircraft keeps pitching up and pitching down unexpectedly, making it hard to properly line up.

Did you try above sea and even lower altitudes? Just for testing...

Yes ive tried a few altitudes. the current script now is deltaD flyInHeightASL [200];  (deltaD being the variable name of the aircraft)

the same happens when the 200 is replaced with 400 and vice versa.

ive also tried executing the script in the vehicles init and the AI pilot's init and it seems to have no effect.

One altitude for each behaviour:

height - careless/safe/aware,

height - combat,

height - stealth

cobraOne flyInHeightASL [200, 100, 400];
