gc8 977 Posted May 7, 2019 Hi I've been flying the official planes in the editor trying to land on various places but one strange thing I have noticed that the jets get damaged incredibly easily. If you look some video on youtube you can see fighters landing on aircraft carrier pretty hard (And without damage). But in arma the landings have to be super smooth or the plane gets heavily damaged. I wonder if anyone else is bothered by this and why isn't this discussed before? To me it makes using the planes in arma pretty much impossible
Janez 531 Posted May 7, 2019 So aircraft equivalent of spring rate being too stiff in Arma?
Moon_chilD 200 Posted May 7, 2019 It is, imo essential the same with helicopter. I mean I know that a chopper should not drop like a stone but especially the skidded ones should survive way more than they do. (Though I think it was worse before the Helicopter DLC) I might be wrong with that, in no way I'm an expert. But in general, I think that's just an Arma problem overall. Everything seems to go haywire when touching something. The collision model across the whole game is just flawed (try to ram a car with another one. For me 7 out of 10 times I learn to fly). Just another syndrome of this old engine?

In my opinion way too stiff aircrafts have springs for the same reason any other vehicle has them, so the vehicle wont break on uneven terrain
