JAP 2 Posted January 7, 2003 So, did you try the jumpersetting for the cd roms yet ? So they send away the mobo and not the psu ? Mmmm, Chaintech Very nice brand, very little fallout Used it alot with P, P MMX, P 2 and early P3.
second_draw 0 Posted January 7, 2003 All the tech ideas floating around here are good but there is one more possibility which seems reasonable since you had your computer previously working. It could be a virus, in particular the nasty melisa virus, which stops the computer from booting, but as there was nothing upon power button/ignition ( ), i also say it was likely the psu because of your chunky upgrade. best see the professionals
ale2999 0 Posted January 8, 2003 ok 2fay to my delight (sarcasm) Ifound out that both my cdrom and cdburner are broken/fried. I determined this trying them on working machine and they were not recognied or anything else. Whatever, it is so upsetting. The burner was bought by my dad about a month ago from the same company so what do u guys think I should do? take it to them as well and explain that the burner didnt work? I believe it is still in warranty. I totally dont understand how all those damages occured. Some1 try to illuminate me. I was thinking that maybe in the nit there was a power surge or somtetin like that, what do u think? l8r (I get a crappy laptop in this mean time so I can browse forum onlu 1nce in a day)

Problem is that it s almost impossible ( economicly ) to determin what caused the problem afterwards. Just take the CD RW in and say it stopped working. Normally all cdroms & hdd's are 1 to 3 year warranty, only thing less i know is floppydrives, they usually have 6 months warranty. So just take it in, and say it stopped working, nothing more. Mister Frag 0 Posted January 8, 2003 And toss that PSU while you are at it, since there is a chance that it fried the motherboard, possibly the CPU, and the drives. It simply isn't worth the risk of keeping it and having it fry something else later.
ale2999 0 Posted January 8, 2003 thx guys, I got my old machine working again.
