CaptainAzimuth 714 Posted August 28, 2018 Well, not really a fix because it would be optional, but what is the thoughts about its implementation for a possible option in the settings? From what NVidia has been pushing it's not that tedious to implement. Could BI pull off adding it in this far into Arma 3's life span? Would you guys welcome it as a possible fix to the light going through solid objects? Or would you rather it be left alone because it might be too demanding on the hardware? After a closer look it seems like a gimmick, and way too early for RTX to be used, especially considering hardly anyone is going to dish out a few hundred on one of the only GPU's capable of rendering it. Maybe in the next 20 years when NVidia doesn't have a monopoly on the tech and it's more widely available and affordable.

With that you mean dynamic lighting. 7 hours ago, CaptainAzimuth said: Maybe in the next 20 years no.. Not really. DayZ already has dynamic lighting. It'll only be a couple years. not 20. It also isn't a product, it is a technology. It also has nothing to do with deffered shading/lighting which allows dynamic lighting to be implemented and multiple light sources to cast shadows, which is the reason why you have light bleeding through objects (since only sun and the moon actually casts shadows).

Yeah. Good point. I suppose i could have worded that better. Not really a fix, but an advance in lighting rather. Although, Ray Tracing would be more beneficial to a game such as Dayz more so than for Arma 3 nearing it's absolute end of development despite a few more additions here and there. I'm aware DayZ has already solved the light bleed issue, but after seeing the way Ray Tracing can be used it's definitely something to look for in the future once the technology has been optimized more. The performance seen in some Demo's are a little concerning with regards to the effects on FPS.
