FSPilot 0 Posted December 21, 2002 Yes, flight simulators, they put the FS in FSPilot There's a huge amount of military flight sims out there, so which one is your favorite, if any? Mine would have to be Falcon 4.0. It's old, about 4 years old, but it's got OK graphics, the best realism you can get, and lots of addons/unofficial patches for it. The gameplay is unbeatable. You're never flying the same old scripted mission with the campaign. It's got a campaign generator which makes new missions on it's own for you to fly, which you can also change to your liking so you're not flying directly over a SAM site. The other military flight sims out there are... Microsoft CFS3 (just released) Janes came out with a bunch of them, some got cancelled though -_- LOMAC (Lock On-Modern Air Combat) And I think Microprose is planning on more Falcon sims, but I'm not sure. So who else plays these?
Harnu 0 Posted December 21, 2002 Never was much for air sims. But with the Camels in OFP now, I get all the dogfighting I need
ralphwiggum 6 Posted December 21, 2002 how about IL-2?
SKULLS_Viper 0 Posted December 21, 2002 http://www.il2sturmovik.com/ Yea, IL-2 is pretty good. Also, i heard that CFS3 is pretty bad.
red oct 2 Posted December 22, 2002 what about B-17 The Mighty 8th? thats a rather good sim, if ya like flying bombers.
FSPilot 0 Posted December 22, 2002 I was just naming a few off the top of my head. I haven't tried IL-2 or the mighty 8th, although they both do look REALLY good, especially the mighty 8th.
Col. Kurtz 0 Posted December 22, 2002 From what I have read, I wouldnt touch CFS3 unless it was the last FS on earth. If you want a WW2 flight sim, go directly to IL2 or its sequal, forgotten battles (coming soon to a shop near you) B-17 2 was alright, but I think it would have been cool if you could have had a career as the Germans shooting down B-17s, and if multi player hadnt been cancelled. FSPilot 0 Posted December 22, 2002 Actually I'd prefer the bomber role. Not only do you get to do bombs, you get to fly like an airliner, and shoot back.

You can jump into btoh friendly and enemy planes while in a mission, but yuo cant fly them as a career. Anyway, B-172 should be very cheap now, under $10 US cheap I would say. mr. Duck 0 Posted December 22, 2002 Falcon 4.0 all the way. Especially now when you can make actual carrier landings. It's just nice to do that. Not to mention the campaign. Still my favorite
FSPilot 0 Posted December 22, 2002 Do you know anything of any new stuff microprose has coming out? It's still a pretty popular game, I don't know why they'd drop it.
mr. Duck 0 Posted December 22, 2002 You should keep an eye on that Lo-mac. It shows great potential. By the way. From what i've heard, microprose is history.
B@ZOOkA 0 Posted December 22, 2002 my favorite one is il-2... 1. it has the best graphic engine.... its just that beautiful ... no other one has that visual quality 2. the atmosphere is just great... you feel like in WW2 3. i like those slow-flying planes (compared to today's) of WW2... the planes still had a "soul" at this time... I believe they were brought up by Infrogrames, and I have heard of no flight sim projects.

FSPilot 0 Posted December 22, 2002 I had DiD's EF2000 a while back, still have it I think. Great game, very addicting, one of my first flight sims.

Perhaps on an engine like IL-2! And as mentioned before, the guys responsible for Battlehawks:1942, Their Finest Hour and Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe are working on a new flight sim for Lucasarts. Yay! FSPilot 0 Posted December 22, 2002 I remember playing a game called "aces of the sky" or something like that. Â I think it had a dynamic campaign. Â Standard pre-win 95 graphics, didn't get very popular. Â It was out at about the same time Red Baron was I think.

Col. Kurtz 0 Posted December 22, 2002 MiG Ally is good, set in the Korean War. Has a good dynamic campaign in which yuo can change how the war goes by doing stuff like blowing up ammo dumps which in terms reduces the effectiveness of troops who realy on that ammo etc. Not a bad engine either. Pitty I cant get it to install on Windows 2000.
B@ZOOkA 0 Posted December 22, 2002 i just tested microsoft's new combat flight sim 3... no way... it is LIGHTYEARS away from the quality of il2... in every point.. the graphics, the realism, the atmophere... nothing compared to il2...and sturmovik is out now for over 1 year i think...its just the best one at the moment... but in future there could be a compititor for il2 ... its called lock on and looks very promising... but it will take some time until its release check out their site
