Some questions about recoil...

Recently, I watched a couple videos here of some people shooting machineguns. Now, if some fat hillbilly can fire an M60E3 with no recoil, and a representation of a trained soldier in OFP fires an M60 standing up with heavy recoil, shouldn't it be the other way around? I watched tons of videos, from ak47's to M60's. The ak47 in one video fires off 6 clips, all on fullauto, and the shooter looks like a medium-build guy. He only has a bit recoil, but his entire body doesnt shoot back like in OFP, the front of his gun just jolts upward a bit. Can someone explain this what recoil is and is it realistic in OFP?

BTW: I know the pistols are unrealistic in OFP: Res, im just asking about the assault rifles and MG's.

Well, the very first video I watched had some retard that is clearing a malfunction with his finger on the trigger. What's worse, this particular gun (the M10) fires from an open bolt, so simply letting the bolt slam forward can set off a chain reaction where the SMG empties the entire magazine in not much more than one second.

I'm still trying to recover from watching that video...

It's true, the M60 is very stable, the buffer absorbs almost everything. You dont feel any recoil towards you when firing the M60, but you will certainly feel it shaking around. I bet those bullets he fired in the demonstration were all over the place.

edit - and i'm watching this one of the guy with the M-60 set up on a bipod, on a spool. i dont think that'd have much recoil in the first place. it's supported by a fat man, with a bipod, and on a spool, and it's still pushing him back some.

oh well i really dont know, never shot anything faster than a semi-auto pistol.

Ah..the good ole US of A. Land of the free, home of crazy fat guys with machine guns! When I lived in northern BC near the ALaska border,. there was a guy with an M60. For a 100 bucks, he'd take you out on the mud flats at low tide and let you go Rambo with the thing. I've always regretted not splurging on it
