Need help learning how to use ofp editor + addons

Recommended Posts

oops,

Anyways, im kinda computer illiterate and would like to know if there is a site of something that explains how to use the mission editor correctly and how to use scripting. Also, I would like to start downloading addons but have no idea how. How do you unzip the files after you download them? Then where do you put them? I'd appriciate any help and thanks in advance to all who do.

Chris

Now here's a stupid question...Where do you find WinZip? Is there a site for beginners that starts at the basics and works up to more complex editing. As of now I can't even get soldiers to get into a vehicle without it leaving with only one or two men on board. One final question. Wow do you get soldiers to cross the bridge on Nogova? They just seem to mill around on the opposite side.

So when I click on the addon to download it and click save file to disk, where do I put it? Then, after I get the addon where it is supposed to be, how do I use it in the mission editor? I know there is something about ...weaponname or ...weaponname mag or something but have no idea. Does the download usually come with instructions?

What I am asking is, well, say I download a gun addon...When I go to use it will there be a soldier made especially for that gun, ie. Soldier(XMS), or do i have to type some kind of command to use it and get mag's.

usually, they come eother in ZIP or RAR format, soyou have to extract them compresed file. then you'll see some readme files and a file with extension PBO. copy the PBO file to either addons directory or as the readme file states.

when you go into editor, usually, the weapon will have a soldier with it. so choose side, and you can find the name in the list of soldiers or armors ro whatever appropriate class is.

Usually that is the case.

If not I recomend you not to delve into ofp-scripting right away. Have fun with the editor first. Put some units here and there and play and play and play. When you feel quite comfortable with the editor, then start with the scripting-commands (change unit inventory etc)

Hope this helps smile.gif

oooh! and welcome to the wonderfull world of mission-making xmas.gif

sidenote: all scripting/command-related questions goes in the MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING-forum wink.gif

Well either open them whit winzip and

1, Click the file push "Extract" button

2, Select the Flashpoint ADDON folder witch would be C:\Program Files\Codemasters\OperationFlashpoint\ADDONS for me

Or if you allready extracted them copy and past them in to the Addons folder (if you didnt extract them in there first place)

And you are done  smile.gif

Like Shadow said, play around whit the editor befor you start scripting
