KingAlectheFirst 3 Posted January 27, 2018 Hello, I have had arma 3 for some time, And I didn't really play it anymore. I openede up my game and I get 3-5 FPS in the main menu, I used to be playing on ultra. I have tried putting the graphics on normal and even on low and it still gives me just 3-5 FPS. I checked the integrity of the game and even re-installed arma 3 with no succes unfortunately. Any of you have an idea to fix this problem? Gunter Severloh 4087 Posted January 27, 2018 Hello, Welcome to BIS forums! Sorry to read about your troubles. Some questions: 1. When was the last you played exactly? as there has been several updates, that could be causing you the performance loss. 2. what is your view distance set at, ideally 2000 and under should allow you decent performance, anything higher places more demand on the CPU. 3. Running any mods? Running any mods that require CBA_A3 and you forgot to start the game with CBA_A3? 4. You start the game through a 3rd party launcher like Armasync, Play with Six, or just through arma3's launcher? 5. Is Arma3 on your SSD or the HDD? (if on the HDD when was the last time you defragged? 6. You have any external programs running in the background like antivirus doing a scan, or something being updated while your on the menu of the game? 7. What is your operating system? 8. Did you have the same issue last time you played? and how was the performance before, like what FPS were you getting and what were you playing? Lastly please review this thread which is pinned in the forum section here: ============
KingAlectheFirst 3 Posted January 28, 2018 1: Like a few months ago. 2: I have no idea, but I even get such low FPS in the main menu... I will try to lower it and see what happens. 3: No Mods. 4: I start the game through steam 5: It's on my SSD. 6: Nope, 7: Windows 10 8: I haven't played since this issue happened cause it's literally impossible, but I don't know what FPS I got exactly but I guess 60+ FPS. Arma 3 is ofcourse not the only game I play and every other game play I have no issues playing on Ultra and getting a decent FPS.
Gunter Severloh 4087 Posted January 28, 2018 I think its down to your computer specs, possibly some settings, so what i recommend is that you head over to this thread: https://forums.bohemia.net/forums/topic/187603-will-my-pc-run-arma3-what-cpugpu-to-get-what-settings-what-system-specifications/?page=1 and ask about how do i increase my FPS, post your specs, and wait for a reply, Old Bear, tank buster and maybe another will respond, they know their computers in relation to arma3 and can probably tell you what you will need to do to make the game playable and or increase performance. KingAlectheFirst 3 Posted January 28, 2018 There is no way it has something to do with my computer specs... but okay I will try that I guess. Nvidia GTX 1060 6gb of VRAM. 16gb of normal RAM and a i5-7500 should be more than enough to play this game on atleast high settings. A lot of friends of mine have PC's that are far from my specs and they run can run it perfectly on normal. Thanks for trying to help though.
Gunter Severloh 4087 Posted January 29, 2018 Its understandable, but with Arma3 you would be surprised at what demands this game places on a computer, like i said it could be a setting or two that are on that you may not know about, or something in your launch that makes the game run like crap. I know your not running any mods as you had mentioned, i pointed out the mod CBA_A3 which is required by alot of other mods, i had one day not to long ago i launched the game without that mod while running other mods that need it, and ingame my game was lagging, i looked at the fps and the fps tbh was normally for what my computer can handle (80+) and im like wtf is with the lag then? I thought it was the mission i was running, apparently not, it was every mission i tried, all editor, and even mp hosted missions, im like wtf is going on, i checked taskmanager to see if my antivirus was doing an update, or a scan, among many other things, things were normal, so i shut down the game, started my armasync launcher and low and behold CBA_A3 wasn't checked, so i checked it, went back into the same mission where the lag started, and nothing, no lag, lol again WTF So you can see it can be something simple and stupid like that, not saying you made any mistakes like that, just it could be a setting, or of all things worse case scenario something with the computer, cant say, wait for Old Bear to assess the situation once you provide him with detailed info on the one thread, hope everything works out. Cheers.
Dedmen 2728 Posted January 29, 2018 3-5 fps sounds alot like the 3FPS bug. Which sure shouldn't be happening on the main menu. Are you running the 64 or 32bit version? Did you try the other one to see if that fixes the problem?
Gunter Severloh 4087 Posted January 29, 2018 1 hour ago, Dedmen said: Are you running the 64 or 32bit version? Actually thats a good point you asked that, he says he starts the game through steam, so with a steam made desktop shortcut, the arma3 launcher should fire up, and under parameters he should check to see if at the top it says 32bit or 64 bit. I have tried putting the graphics on normal and even on low and it still gives me just 3-5 FPS. Don't do that. The low settings can be worse than auto-detection, for many games (The Forest, Arma...) just because the graphics are passed to motherboard. You are like on desktop, with low GPU load, but heavy CPU calculations in this case. For laptops, at least.
