REQ: Copy/Paste custom compositions

Recommended Posts

Hey BIS guys,

the possibility to create custom compositions (i. e., user can save a set of placed editor objects for later use, with all their attributes and init code)  inside the editor saves us a lot of time. In theory they van be shared via file system, but its too clunky to actually be successful.

Allow copy+paste! This would be great for the community. Youtube tutorials could simply share their thoughts. People could share their compositions easily. Ignite mission making!

I'd zip and base64 the object compositions for error free sharing (ie no word wrap etc.)

thx

I have copied and pasted several compositions in the editor.

First load up the VR aspect in the editor. Then either build or import your composition the same way you do to load a mission. Copy the composition and then close the VR instance of the editor.

Second load up your mission file in the editor then paste the composition down somewhere in the map on the mission file and then make sure you have a suitable place. You will need to inspect the composition to make sure items didn't go all wonky on pasting but it works fine.

Hi, thanks for your reply, I think I was unclear - I mean copy/pasting to clipboard as text, so that we can share compositions over the internet.

In A2 there was two small scripts that exported/imported compositions as text. Can't remember exactly where but maybe they are still lurking in A3?

Well I could export the respective text files. It's not about me, I was thinking in a more general scope. If EDEN editor had something like a "Share" button, some support for putting whatever stuff as text to clipboard, as written above, then the community, e.g. Youtubers could simply share units/compositions/code for EDEN.
