hubertdilger 0 Posted November 30, 2002 Hello. I've read quite a bit about the problems some users are having with Resistance Patch 1.85. I too am having trouble. The patch loads correctly but when I try to execute Resistance, the mouse pointer turns into an hourglass for three or four seconds and then turns back to a pointer and the program does not execute. Version 1.75 works just fine. As you may have guessed, I am using an AMD processor and a motherboard based on the VIA chipset. I have tried to reset the AGP speed setting to 2, and the AGP aperture to 64MB. neither solution worked. Is there anything else I should try? I just cant seem to get it to work. Mister Frag 0 Posted November 30, 2002 If OFP never actually starts (but the OFP:R banner appears in the middle of the screen), the problem is likely with the copy-protection engine (SafeDisc) not recognizing the CD. Are you playing with the OFP:R (not OFP! CD in the CD/DVD drive with the first drive letter? Did you make any changes recently to your OS or hardware, or did you install any new utilities? Have you tried using the DirectX Diagnostics (DXDIAG.EXE) to make sure the DirectX settings are correct? Also, try running the Preferences program to auto-detect the settings for your hardware. Check out THIS entry in the AvonLady's Unofficial OFP FAQ to see if that helps.
