Balschoiw 0 Posted November 28, 2002 There has been an attack on an Israeli airplane with 2 missiles in Mombasa, Kenia. The rockets were fired at the plane after it has taken off from Momabasa airport. Another bombing on a hotel, mostly visited by Israeli tourists in Mombasa killed approximately 11 people. It didnt take 2 seconds till the Keniata government blaimed Al Quaida for the assaults. This is another example that terrorists are much more harder to fight than anbody thought when the war on terror was started. Terrorist can and will engage targets in any country on the world. It is impossible to stop worldwide terrorism in my opinion.
Blake 0 Posted November 28, 2002 Lucky escape for the jet indeed, pilots described that they saw a flashes and they felt as if a bird had hit a plane or something. This perhaps means that they felt the wake of the missile hit them.
Balschoiw 0 Posted November 28, 2002 Maybe the missiles didnt get "Hot" cause of the short distance between plane and Launcher.

Terrorists = the devil" Terrorists most likely turn to terror when all other ways have been tried, and failed. A terrorist doesnt just wake up one day and decide to kill some people. There is always a long period of conflict leading up to acts of terrorism. As long as people keep dismissing it like this, there will be no stopping it. Longinius 1 Posted November 28, 2002 "You expect people to believe that osama bin laden tried to come to a diplomatic solution before he knocked down the world trade center?" No. But on the other hand he didnt just wake up all of a sudden, with no reason, a reborn terrorist. There were reasons for that as well.

FSPilot 0 Posted November 28, 2002 I can't believe you guys are defending osama bin laden. If we always looked at the way things were "back then" Germany would still owe us millions of dollars from world war one.

I'm just pointing out how countries conveniently change their view of someone as a "terrorist" or "freedom fighter" - it all depends on whom they're "terrorizing" or "freedom fighting" against . Longinius 1 Posted November 28, 2002 "I can't believe you guys are defending osama bin laden." I am not defending Bin Laden. I am simply pointing out that if we call terrorism a cancer for example we can chose to deal with it in two ways: 1. We wait for people to get sick with cancer and we cut it out. 2. We try and find out why people get sick from cancer and we then try to prevent it, by dealing with the issues that cause it. Number 2 will probably work better than number 1. nolips71 0 Posted November 28, 2002 firing old missiles side ways on at airliners is not very intelligent
theavonlady 2 Posted November 29, 2002 This is one of the missiles found in Mombasa. Why is it blue? Isn't blue an indication of a training weapon. If so, can a training weapon be converted to a full fire one. Or could it be that it was painted blue to appear to be a training weapon?
MrMilli 0 Posted November 29, 2002 Training missiles do not carry, or have the capacity to carry a full warhead. Training man portable AA launchers iirc do not have the capacity to fire the missile at all, and a "kill" is achieved when the user locks the target, after all aerial targets are expensive, and so are the missiles

Balschoiw 0 Posted November 29, 2002 a. It can be a modified training launcher (unlikely) b. It has been painted in order to make it look like a training one I think b is more likely.
