erfworm 0 Posted November 23, 2002 OK since this isnt related to the game I figured it should go here. But I just found my Sidewinder force feedback joystick its not version 2 but the old one. Anyways I tried installing it and the drivers are not XP compatable therefor it did not install, so I was wondering if there was any kind of XP installer I can get? Or some kind of shortcut to make the installer think its installing to an earlier version of Windows. Thanks
bn880 5 Posted November 23, 2002 Most Sidewinder products (especially older ones) have native support in XP. So the drivers should already be available in your XP installation.
erfworm 0 Posted November 23, 2002 Thanks for the fast reply! But this doesnt seem to be the case... I get the following error when trying to install Issue Description: Sidewinder Game Device Software 3.x installs drivers that are incompatible with this version of Windows. For more information, contact Microsoft Now I have tried searching their website for help or drivers but nothing comes up, Thanks
eh remraf 0 Posted November 23, 2002 Sidewinder drivers are native to XP... All you need to do is make sure you connected the joystick, if XP doesn't automatically install it, then all you need to do is go to system properties, and to the hardware tab. Then go to the Add Hardware Wizard. It should detect it and install the appropriate drivers. Again, you do not need to install drivers because XP already has em. This method worked for me when I installed my old MS Sidewinder gamepad.
