Laggggggggggggg

Recommended Posts

What is the minimum connection speed you should use when playing Multilayer match's, 28k? 56k? ISDN?

The reason I am asking is that I help run a ladder site and we have run into a few problems where some players are taking something like 30 bullets with not effect they just run straight past you as if you was not there.

I have 64k IDSN. seems to do the trick.

for the best gaming experience though you need high bandwidth.

I used to play on 56k with only a few problems on big maps. I would suggest 128k+ though.

Edit: I am on ADSL now, it makes game play much better.

I currently use a 56k modem, but i should be getting adsl before Santa realisises he is an hour late...

But seriously a 56k modem is fine(when theres no lag wink.gif) I rarely have too many problems, but as said 128k + is much better, and not too expensive nowadays...

Nope - not enough bandwidth. 56k is the absolute minimum, and even that can be too slow with some missions.

Well if a 56k modem struggles....

IMHO DSl would be the minimum.  Only problem is that leaves out some of the new guys just starting the game. confused.gif On the other hand most new guys aren't in ladders because they are not in squads or clans yet.

ISDN is totally sufficient. More important is a good server that can handle outgoing traffic. So hosting with ISDN is impossible and DSL without fastpath also has problems with hosting. With V1.85 and ISDN I get pings round 100 to good servers.

well I think the conclusion is that OFP is allmost unplayable on a 28k modem.

This means that the opposite team has to shoot more bullets into you because you dont send and receive enough data with the modem.

People with 28k modems should be banned from playing ladder matches. The least they can do is buy a 56k modem! Not that expensive anymore these days... confused.gif

Tell ya what, I have 512k ADSL and to be honest it's still laggy by my standards.

It may just be that I keep playing on non-dedicated servers, but I cannot remember a single time a net game has been lag-free.

What one person would consider fine and smooth someone else would call laggy and unplayable.

Useless topic.
