Highlander 17 Posted February 22, 2017 Hi all. Whenever I create a mission and I place myself in command... My character voice has a european english accent. Although I change it to an american english accent within the units identity under the voice drop down menu.... The voice never changes. How do I change my english accent? Would much appreciate some help as this is the last change I would like to make to the mission for immersion purposes. Cheers Franky
joostsidy 685 Posted February 22, 2017 You have to set the location of your computer to a US location. ;-) The player identity is implemented hard. So even if you play as Chinese CSAT, you still get your western head and English voice. There might be a personal profile somewhere to set it, because my default voice is Am. English not British English But identities can change per mission so I use the setFace and setSpeaker commands. You can just write it in an 'init.sqf' file in your mission folder or maybe even in the init field of the unit. Example: unit1 setSpeaker "Male02GRE";
HeroesandvillainsOS 1504 Posted February 22, 2017 I've been struggling with this myself, trying to get my profile (white guy, American) to override so I can play as an Afghan civilian. Sorry to be blunt but the hardcoded profile is one of the worst decisions I've ever seen in this game. It's so remarkably short-sighted and narrow minded. Considering even vanilla consists of several factions of multi-cultural and ethnic groups, its frankly ridiculous we don't have a simple checkbox for profiles to be ignored and default to the unit traits. Thanks for the tips. Hopefully it works for me.
Highlander 17 Posted February 23, 2017 Thanks for the tips joostsidy. Appreciate that. I ended up changing faction to NATO that gives me English american accent then edited cloths/loadout etc.... to my liking so I look exactly the same as I did before. I guess it's a work around. Am happy now :-) As for the hardcoded profiles... I must agree... need the freedom of allowing to change certain aspects of the character especially when it comes to multi cultural and ethnic groups. Zhivets 2392 Posted February 23, 2017 Can't you make a new profile aside from your hard-coded one that uses your Computer name? I'm pretty sure there are options in the profile menu to change your voice.

It wouldn't make sense for me to leave it to chance or instruct people to make a new profile just to play it. We need a simple checkbox in the editor to override a profile. I don't think I'm asking for a lot here. AI units spawn based on the unit traits by default, but forcing the actual human to play as their avatar based on some hard code is frankly ridiculous and shouldn't need to scripted out with advanced commands. The base game is NATO versus Iran. It's crazy we're even be having this discussion 3+ years after release.
Zhivets 2392 Posted February 23, 2017 Ah, right. I see what you mean now. I can definitely agree that there should be an option to override the player profile for story-based missions.
