18th Century Mod - Ship's n Stuff

Hey guys,

 

while being bored I came up with an idea. Here you can see how bored I was:

Pretty much unfinished yet, many things to do, texturing, uv maps on the wrong side, configs, physics etc...

What do you think? Good to create something like this or not?

That´s the second XVIIth Century naval vessel mod, in less than a month, poping up here... I sense a trend... or maybe an "Arma 3: Black Flag" total modification raising on the far horizon ? ;)

 

Keep up the great work, Arma 3 needs this kind of variety (and Lost Dragons too...)

This ship is 90 years older than the previous posted HMS Persephone. I had such idea since Assasins Creed Black Flag was released and for 4 days now, I play a mobile game with the same theme. Yesterday I was so much bored, that I said ok lets do it.... but I don't wanted to put that into the other ships thread and spam it with that.

Yes, I think so too. In my mind, even BI should think about that idea. To have multiplayer fights between english and spanish or french ships would be so great.

 

My basic idea is, to make a mission simmilar to altis life.

You need to begin with a very small amout of money and need to buy with 3 to 4 players a tiny vessel.

 

( Why four players? Because a ship with more than 4 people would be on an arma life server not logic and logistical possible. One as the captain, one for each side as a gunner and one as a spoter/navigator.

This would not be realistic, but it would help to pupulate servers.

I think AI would not do the job well, because its about to flee in a bigger fight and than you have a uncrewed ship... )

 

You need to make money by fishing, trading, capturing other ships and maybe some other missions.

Trading would be based on a dynamic markets, wich would be each independent from other harbor markets.

Things like cannon balls, rum, sugar, salt, tabak, fur and many other things should be tradeable.

 

And there should be a respect system. If you have a negative count, you need to pay to to land on an harbor and you get with a too negative maybe refused to trade with the npc. You would be listed as a pirate or a smuggler. And if you are able to trade, you need to pay more and recieve less than other players.

If you have a positive respect level, you would be listed as a trader. You get less prices for things to buy and you get higher rewards for selling things.

 

If yoy go and play as a trader, you get fast money, gain respect and you can buy bigger trading vessels.

But if you go as a pirate, you have a bit harder life. You need to fight traders and steal their ship and sell their stuff and the whole ship, wich gives you a high amount of money. But you could get attacked by the navy and lose everything.

If you go as a smuggler, you have a bit more easier life. The navy would stop you and search your ship, but would not attack you instant. Basicly, you do everything like a normal trader, but you transport forbidden/stolen/etc... things.

 

The navy would be the police replacer. They fight pirates, search ships or escort traders for an effortable amount of money (10-20%).

 

 

I even thought about flags. Changing them would be a thing. You could get a variety of flags, based on where the whole thing plays, on tanoa would be mainly the french flag, the flag of the netherlands, the british and the spanish.

And of course a variaty of pirate flags, maybe 20 different.

And there would be the option for a flag wich shows the clan logo, based on the squad.xml.

 

 

So that was just a basic list of ideas.

Hey guys, is there someone out there, who wants to help me? I need a texture artist. If someone wants to help me, send me a pm.

 

 

 

Got some news too, got the ship to drive. The steering wheel works and the rudder at the end.  Need to fix some uv maps, most of them work now.

My plans are to add flaggs to the ship, but need to figure out first, how to make them work.

Made a road way, but how shold I describe it the best?... BI and it's engine are doing weird things with you while on the ships...     Because the ship is rolling with the sea, you get bugged of or start to fly, even if the waves are very low...

I guess I should add that the ship on the screen is way bigger, than it should. Where I was taking the screen, the wheel was twice as big as a player... I'm already resizing it, atm its only one or two meters higher than my first ship.

 

 

This isn't my second ship, working on a tartane as a fishing and trading vessel. But sadly, atm it is jumping like a lowrider on the water surface...

@Dane Jones No I stopped working on it, because other projects got a higher priority for me and I totally forgot about this post here... I recommend you following this mod:
