tanoa lite?

Recommended Posts

so today upon downloading apex to our units server we realized we cant even make use of tanoa since not all of our members have it and we cant tell members they have to buy it. this is fracturing the community (something i remember bohemia promising they wouldnt do)

so is this something that is planned? or tanoa with those ads like they have for the other DLC? kinda bummed out over this since i purchased apex for tanoa and wont ever get to use it now for the foreseeable future

This isn't a simple Dlc, but a game expansion. Moreover, a lite Island wouldn't make any sense.

not an expansion but the arma 2 ACR dlc did have "lite islands" included with it (lower terrain/object resolution for textures n stuff)

And BI have since acknowledged that the "Lite" idea for releasing expansions/DLC was a stupid one due to the "try before you buy" aspect being massively affected by the "Oh my god this addon looks like shit, I'm not buying it" aspect...As such BI went a different route with ArmA3's DLCs with the "being able to use them in the Arsenal and play alongside owners of the DLC but being unable to use the content yourself with constant pop-up reminders and ads" idea.

However, as ProfTournesol already said, its an expansion NOTDLC, so this option is off the table. Either use it and alienate those who don't own it (or it'll encourage them to buy it) or don't use it - at the end of the day the decision is yours, but don't expect BI to bend over backwards to accommodate everyone - they've already been fairly accommodating with regard to their DLC, certainly far more so than many developers.

Reality is if people love the game and invest do much time in it I genuinely struggle with them not being able to spend the £25 to pick up the expansion. I paid £60 I think for the support version back in 2013 and so far it's cost me £0.024 per hour to play... Best purchase I ever made probably (assuming she doesn't ultimately divorce me - they do correlate)
