The Hunt (Ver2) [Fully Dynamic Full Map Mission]

Recommended Posts

Stormforge nailed it pretty much.  I strip my ACE version down to very limited features.  I am not recommending ACE, but it should work if you decide to use it.

As for the gear load-out, i'll modify it to include toolkit.  I know RHS defaults miss this in some cases...like the EOD units not having the proper vanilla gear.

also in hunter six after you collected intel from the dead bodies the question marks on the map would disappear. any chance you could implement that?

I will look into this.

For the IEDs that I have seen in the Kunduz version they seem pretty easy to spot, though I only have seen the same one multiple times. Only one type? Though I was taught to be wary of things sitting on the side of the road. Surprised me when it wasn't a buried mine, but looked somewhat like an actual hidden IED.

I use all IED types, picked at random, so my guess is its been picking the same ones in your example.  Also some are buried while others are not...and some are completely hidden where other times not.  All randomized.  So if you arent see this happen, its just the luck of the randomization  ;)

Kunduz Update inbound.  Changes are:

-Updated loadout for Engineer to be able to repair vehicles
-Updated ACE settings to support ACE Medics and Engineers
-Added new IED threat areas near US Base/FOB
-Fixed deadbody markers are now deleted after bodies have been found

Will update other maps later.

everything seams to be working great. Only issue that i have found is that any of the ui menus(arsenal, team select, alive cas ect.) tends to load slow. an example would be i click on one of the squad members name to join group it takes 3 seconds or so before the action happens. I didn't experience this before the update. Not a big deal but just wanted to let you know. Thanks again for the hard work you put into this mission.

Thanks.  I heard the same on Steam.  Will look into it after switching to current build.  If i find issues, i will share.  Keep in mind, CBA and ALiVE may be releasing updates as well for the APEX update, so not sure if that has anything related to what might be happening.

I like the concept but the mission is unplayable to me. The menus to select squad and loadout take several minutes just to pop up. ALIVE interface is going very slow as well.

I'm just getting back from Vaca.  In the next following days i will ahve to run some tests to see.  But more info would be appreciated.  Example below of what would help:

-What map you running?

-What additional addons are you running?

-When does this happen?  Map start, after few hours, etc..

-What are your objectviewdistance settings set to?  Per info in the mission, best to keep it as low as possible.  I found around 700 ran pretty well

-What is your CPU specs

-Are all mods up to date?

-Are you running DEV or Stable branches?

Thanks

Kunduz map

only required addons all up to date

no ace3

menu slowness begins at map startup

object view distance around 1000. set to around 700 and same issue. this issue doesnt effect frame rates. only menu loading time- example is alive CAS menu, virtual arsenal and team select menu.

I7 2600k and 970 gpu

running stable branch.

not sure if this helps with trouble shooting but the menu slow down didint happen until your kunduz update. maybe one of the changes caused it.

-Updated loadout for Engineer to be able to repair vehicles
-Updated ACE settings to support ACE Medics and Engineers
-Added new IED threat areas near US Base/FOB
-Fixed deadbody markers are now deleted after bodies have been found

Same lag issues as everyone is talking about on the Kunduz map using all the required addons. The Atlis version is fine. Menu's lag to the point of being unplayable and certain functions such as group halo jump do not work.

Thanks all.  Based on FHOG feedback, I have an idea what it is.  Also I have some new code changes i would like to make that will improve performance and change the vehicle's spawn types which should also help altogether.  This means however it will take a little longer then a quick hotfix.  Hang tight!  :)

Some missions like Pigrimage, whenever the mission maker posts an update that the Workshop automatically pushes onto our machines, would not let you resume a save from a previous version, which can become frustrating during times of of heavy updating. That's why I usually prefer manual downloads over Steam. How does this mission behaves in this regard?

Hi Jcae, sorry for my english, i'm Italian so ye i will mess a up a lot, hope this post is going to be clear, forgive me for any grammar error or stuff like that.

First of all good job with the mission, i loved Hunter Six and i'm still playing it very often even if i'm an Arma Noob, and that's why i'm going to ask few question about this.

I'm having some issues on how to play this (i played like 1 hour yesterday and did not encounter any bugs, but neither enemies or some action) i think i'm doing something wrong here.

I started the mission, did some stuff with arsenal and recruited my team... all fine.

Then i went directly for the informant, took a bit for me to figure how to tell the heli to transport me and my team (That's probably because i'm an Arma noob but something like an Hint would be cool at least at the very beginning)

The informant told me about and IED, went there with Heli Again, did not find the IED probably because i had no IED Specialist in my team, not to bad i said let's just explore around a bit i'll take care of this later...

Starting from the base i went to all the cities (3-4 cities if i remember correctly) surrounding it, nothing; no civs no enemies, nothing, i kept going but after like 30 min of car/run/Walk i was still alone in Altis, i tought it could be a bug but idk tbh.

So yes, what i would really appreciate here it's something that give you Hints on what to do at the very beginning, in Hunter Six at the start you can go to the Aid truck, and while driving stop sometimes to get Int from Civs then it's all starting to work and from there you decide what to do next because the mission offers you a lot of tasks and stuff.

Here some questions too:

1- Is there a way to call Heli Transport to pick you up? So far i just talk to the pilot tell him to drop me off at a certain point and wait for me, because if i tell him to RTB i have no idea how to call him again (Kinda walked around this with Fast Travel to base, is this work as intended?)

2-Not very clear how Fast Travel between bases works, i mean there's only 1 at the start, no idea on what to do for having others around the map

3-If i lose the transport bird is there a way to replace it?

4-You said it's better to keep viewing distance to 750, i started with 900 may it be a problem?

I'm Running this mods

CBA

Alive

JSRS3

That's all i think

Forgive me again for all this grammar errors my english it's still pretty bad.

Thanks in advance for any reply and again Good Job with this mod, i'm pretty sure i'll enjoy it once i figure out how it works

I would like to know this as well. IIRC in Hunter Six there was a radio menu command to call a transport helo, so one could do all the mission with a helo alone, whether I'd leave it to wait for me or let it fly away.

Edit: Also, I have a problem with the Options menu (Esc, click Options, to change graphics and controls). The first time it will open but take like 10 secs to show all 4 menu options, after that it will not open again now matter how many times I click or how long I wait. I have to exit to the main menu then come back for it to open again.

Edit 2: the menu problem happens with just CBA and Live. It works fine when you restart the mission, then a few moments in the game freezes for 10-15 seconds, during which time I suppose some mission randomizing is taking place, after which the Options Menu becomes unresponsive.

This mission uses the ALiVE commander tablet (I'm pretty sure) for transport. Sorry if I'm mistaken on this. Been a week or so since I played this mission so disregard if I'm incorrect.

Anyway, press the app key to open the tablet. Then press commander actions. Then combat support.

Click on the transport chopper in the menu, then choose what you want his action to be in the list below it. For instance, click on "Land"

Then click on where you want the pilot to land on the right hand side of the screen on the mini map.

Then confirm it.

What?

http://alivemod.com/wiki/index.php/Combat_Support

Assuming this mission uses ALiVE combat support (which I know it does in at least some facet...that's where the "talk to pilot option" is coming from), the app key on your keyboard allows you to access the ALiVE Commander Tablet, which inside let's you select combat support transport options.

Jcae will have to clarify whether he set it up this way and if so, if a certain object needs to be in your inventory to use it. By default, the player needs a laser designator.

Just trying to help you guys out until he pops in. I'd check myself how it's set up but I'm at work. I'm just describing the default way ALiVE transport commands work.

Sorry I edited my post to clarify. I'll make this my last post on the subject until I can either check it out for myself or until Jcae responds. I don't want to clutter his thread.

I know for sure he's tied the transport options to ALiVE's system. That option to "talk to pilot" you see when entering the chopper comes from ALiVE combat support. Here's how it "normally" works, assuming he hasn't changed it (and assuming he somehow didn't remove the advanced features):

The ALiVE commander tablet is, by default, tied to the laser designator item. Players need to have this in their inventory to use the tablet.

The default key to pull the tablet up is the app key (yes, the same one you're referring to on your keyboard).

Once you press the app key, you'll see a menu pop up. In the list, you'll see an option that says "Commander Actions."

Click that, and then you'll see a new sub menu. One option should be "Combat Support."

Click Combat Support and you'll see a new menu. On the left side of the screen you should see an option that says "Transport."

Click "Transport" and select the helicopter from the menu on the top. Assuming there's only one transport chopper, it should be your only option. Beneath that, click on the option that says "Land." On the right side of the screen in the same menu, you'll also see a mini-map. Click on the map where you want the chopper to "land." Then click confirm.

This is the same.  Hold tight till the latest bugs are fixed.  Then updates should stop and you wont have this issue till ARMA updates itself  :)

@Vicashh29 - Are you playing the ALTIS version?  If so, strange.  Can you retry loading the mission and directly run to a town or 2 again to see if this is happening?  If so, i may need your report log from ARMA to see what errors might be coming up.  Your settings for object distance should not affect this.

For @Vicashh29 and @Neo, ALiVE is used for support calls including heli.  By default the MOD ALiVE uses the "Down Arrow" key to pull up the tablet.  Try that.  If not, go into your control settings and look at the ADDON CONFIG CONTROLS and look for ALiVE's controls there.  You will want to look for the menu option.

This is a result of the mission.  I am trying to see if i can fix this with the latest updates.  Reason this happens is because of all the scripts running for the spawning of units.  For now, if you need to go into OPTIONS, save & exit, do that, then resume mission.  Sorry, i know annoying, but its the only solution at the moment.

Mission updated!  Altis/Tanoa will follow soon.

Changelog:
-Fixed bug with MENU lags in both in-Game and Game Settings
-Adjusted the the timeout settings at autosave when moveing in/out of base areas
-Redone the entire vehicle spawning code (Addons are still supported.  The more Addons you run, the more chance of different vehicle types supported)
-Fixed bug in IED code
-Fixed entire code to enhance performance
-Using UAV is now supported for load/hiding units across map based on viewsettings.  Before player had to be within distance.  UAV now acts as player's viewdistance as well when player is in control.  UAV should still be restricted to JTAC role however for gaemplay enhancement!
-Fixed trigger in High IED threat area.  Trigger will only trigger after 600 seconds to avoid multiple trigging

A restart fixed everything, exactly what i was looking for, the ALIVE Tablet Menu works too (Found how to open it thanks to you)

The mission is a lot of fun so far, still feel a bit lost since there's really few infos on the map but i gues that's what you were looking for.

Thanks a lot and gj, keep up the good work :)

BIG CHANGES COMING!!

Spoke to the mission maker who released the Dynamic Recon Mission series and he is allowing me to share his code/GUI where you can now select custom factions.  So you can choose which factions you fight against and have some more control along with turning settings On/Off that will allow better performance for those having issues.  This however does mean i will need a bit more time to release update, but they're coming!  Stay tuned.
