Supah 0 Posted November 1, 2002 Spam is more destabilzing for the internet then terrorism. It eats up resources ... both human and machine. Imagine how life would be if internet would stop working? we have come dependant on it. Ill bet you if there were no more spam the internet would improve in speed by 5 - 10 %. Wouldnt that be great? Balschoiw 0 Posted November 1, 2002 Yes but take this forum for example. Don´t you think some spamomatic answers do tell something about the persons you are talking with ? If there was no personal attitude sometimes expressed in "not exactly to the topic" answers, we woldnt know very much about the other guys here. If I want spamfree literature I read a book on science. But spam is part of all day around. Certainly I hate spam-mails, tricking websites and all that stuff. But if you are really nerved you can do something against it. In forums I like to see that even mod´s have a personality ,wich they sometimes express with some "a bit offtopic" answers. If you stay hard to the line it is spam. Or anyone knows how spam is defined the right way ?
Supah 0 Posted November 1, 2002 Those are offtopic replies. Spam in the strictest sense of the word stands for unasked for commercial messages sent either through email or other means (Havent we all seen the natural penis enlargement popup once or twice in our live?) Tovarish 0 Posted November 1, 2002 About a year ago I let my little sister use my hotmail account to sign up for something online. I'm positive whatever it was it was "clean" because I watched her do it...though I can't remember what the hell it was...anyways now I'm getting all these porn e-mails directed towards her! Â Â Â Â <span id='postcolor'> What likely happened is that whomever she signed up with turned around and sold their email list to a third party who then pimped it out to anyone who wanted it. fraggit 0 Posted November 1, 2002 Yeah what the hell is up with hotmail? I get my account spammed out to the limit with them and the notorious penis and breast enlargement spam. But with Yahoo I don't get any of that shit.
Major Fubar 0 Posted November 1, 2002 Hotmail is the worst offender for spam. I've had hotmail accounts which I didn't use to sign up for anything, and still got porn spam. My pet hate, more than spam email, is popups, and, worst of all, sites that add stuff to your favourites and reset your homepage. I am very careful what I click on, so AFAIK, I'm not clicking to add anything to my favourites or set my homepage. Strangely enough, the homepage it keeps getting reset to is Yahoo.
